Let me just give you a little bit of background.......
We are a fairly new and small guild with only perhaps 12 or so members and last night our GM (Atlas) had arranged a guild hunt (or so we thought) out in the Upplands.
Upon arriving at the keep however, he had decided that our small expedition was going to 'port out to Albion instead.
Our group at this moment consisted of 4 players between 32 and 35 plus a 32 Healer being played by a youngster who has never played a healer before, his one and only char being a lvl 10 Runie, we also had a lvl 10 zerker and his lvl 10 buffbot Shaman with us.
So then, over we 'ported. Upon arriving at the TK we waited for buffs before heading out to Hadrians Wall, our skald scouting ahead, when suddenly the shout came over of enemies ahead...
Skidding to a halt we saw a group of purple players, a highlander called Gorf, an avalonian ( called Usp)and another player (a Hibbie I think).
Pausing momentarily before ( I thought ) fleeing I was more than a little dismayed 2 see Atlas cast his hammers at the group of 3 players. As I went in to zerk mode, the words "Shit...shit....shit..." kept going repeatedly through my head.
Anyway, my first target was the highlander Gorf, swinging my axes I charged only to find that some of the group were now mezzed. Luckily however myself and the skald with us (dropdead) were in melee range of Gorf and, being unmezzed, started to lay in with, to my surprise, some success.
Anyway just as I thought Gorf was going to finish me, like a miracle from the gods, my health bar goes up and I realise to my surprise, that not only is the healer un-mezzed but bless the youngser, he has the presence of mind to throw me a heal.
A short time later Gorf bites the dust and dropdead and myself, now abley backed up by the 2 thanes and with our runie casting like a demon, turn our attention to the second Alb (Usp?)He goes down in a flurry of blows and spectacular spells but at this moment of triumph and with my blood pounding I am wickedly felled by the Hibbie who until this point has stood off from the battle. Having accomplished this though he brings himself to the attention of my guild mates who proceed to exact a swift and terrible revenge upon him.
After being rezzed the group turns from Hadrians Wall and starts to head back to the mile gate when our skald spots another purple elf who promptly tries to flee from the group. Giving chase with the skald speed and a couple more hammers cast from the thanes we soon overtake the elf called Kesicay and make short work of him.
Our good guild buddie Otrotord the lvl 10 zerker decides at this point to depart and return with his shaman back to our fair lands to try and get some xp and so ther rest of us, wishing him luck, wave him good bye..........
Alas now my tale takes a turn for the worse as, bouyed up by our successes, we turn to hunt for more prey. Our search takes us close to a keep where dropdead the skald gets too close to its walls and brings upon us the attention of the gaurds.
One very brief fight later we all lie dead, having acheived little more than distracting the gaurds long enough for our healer to make his escape. He duly returns to rezz us and we move away from the keep in to the trees to recover.
And this now is the really sad part because just as we were ready to move out and gad been freshly re-buffed by Hopeless our healer we were set upon by five purple Hibbies. Now whether or not they were out there looking for us in response to our killing of Kesicay earlier or whether they had been drawn to our group by the sight and sounds of our healers buffs I do not know...........
Suffice to say they made short work of our poor grey asses and we were soon wingign our way back to Merry Mid.
And so here ends the tale and the moral of this story? You dont have to be 50 and uber to have fun in RVR
It was a great night - not naive enough to think that all my RVR nights are going to be as good or enjoyable - but you take the good with the bad and boy was last night good......
We also went up quite a few levels in our RR's and earned a few RSP's to boot
