Hi,

I've played the game since beta, unfortunately for reasons i've never gotten as far as lvl 50 lol. I believe this will be the 3rd time ill be back to the game, plan to anyway in a week. My highest chars have been 48 thane, 45 skald and currently my highest hib char is a 32 ranger i think he was. My thane i had to delete to be able to start a char on excaliber, the ranger on hib. I dont plan to play my skald till 50, i do however with my ranger.

I've been gone for almost a year again now but im wanting to go back and finally reach that lvl 50 on excaliber with my ranger.

I've played many mmorpgs but somehow daoc seems the most complete so far. Right now im still subscribed to city of hero's but waiting for my subscribtion to end and go try daoc again.

However im concerned about not being able to find a group. What turned me off with my lvl 40 chars was once i hit lvl 40 it was a pain to find any teams unless i wanted to wait for hours to get on the xp lists. If anything is boring its to having to wait an eternity to get a team, specially during my afternoons. I just happen to have alot of time on my hands and i can play many hours a day.
This seemed the case last time i played with my lvl 45 skald on prydwen. I then moved to excaliber again on hibernia this time, my first time in that realm, and made my ranger whom i lvld mostly in a duo with an irl friend ranger in shrouded isles areas. Unfortunately this meant i had no clue about the realm itself outside SI and only teamed outside SI once.

My question would be will it be alright to find teams on excaliber hibernia, not taking into account that im a ranger who supposedly has problems getting teams, since excaliber seemed alot more populated then prydwen ?

Also about this TOA, if i enjoy the game again ill just go buy it but what are the lvl requirements to start TOA quests ? Is it mostly for lvl 40 or 50 chars or is it needed i start with a low lvl char ?

The best time ever in daoc for me was rvr with my thane, after the game went retail so 48 back then was pretty damn high (ill never forget those keep raids during late nights and defending keeps boy oh boy were those good times sigh :) and i also had a total blast in the bg's with my ranger (who i must admit gave some sc'd armor and weapons hehe) duo'ing with my irl friend.

I read that with the arrival of TOA people run around in legendary stuf etc in the bg's which i guess will make it harder for me to play in bg3 but ah well cant have it all. Before i left last august the buffbot rampage wasnt to obvious in the bg's either and at below lvl 20 it wasnt to hard to find a team either although on prydwen midgard i noticed alot of buffbots, still it was easy to find a team. Only after lvl 40 it suddenly came to a halt unless i wanted to wait for hours in malmo for a spot in an xp list or got lucky enough to get a darkness falls team. For that reason i switched realms and started my ranger. Thing is if i wanna play i wanna play, i dont want to wait hours on the couch till i get a spot and sure i can start an alt but i'd rather play my main who i enjoy the most.

So how have things changed concerning this all ? I can understand less people below lvl 20 so ill be determined to reach lvl 50 with my ranger and just try to be patient to get on those damned xp list and probably powerlvl my way up to 50 if possible to get it over with so then i can use the /level command myself for new chars.

Hopefully the SI areas will be more populated by now coz i really enjoyed the areas but they were pretty deserted back then.

I'm hoping to reach lvl 50 asap so i can enjoy rvr and although i wont have a buffbot and that kinda stuff im sure ill still have alot of fun. However when do i start to need the TOA expansion, can i wait till 50 or should i get it before that and at what lvl ? If the TOA areas are well populated always then no problem coz the more teams avail the better and time investment isnt much of an issue for me coz i have plenty of time. TOA seems to bring back the days of pre spellcrafting where you were would actually enjoy drops from monsters instead of just salvaging them when i came back last year which was a big letdown for me.

I just always keep missing daoc rvr and pve, no matter what mmorpg i play and i must have played about 10 + beta's and pay to play mmorpgs since i left daoc which was my first mmorpg. Daoc just always seems to have done things right compared to flaws i see in other mmorpgs.

Thanx for the replies :),

just glancing through a few of your comments as i dont have that much time... i have a 43 bard on Excal Hib, since TOA came out.. all XP grps stopped its taken him a month to get from 42-43, most Xping is guild and friend based at the mo if not pling.. i dont know about midgard xp.. but albion is the only good stable one ive found.. we have a blessing with Avalon City for 40+ grps that no other realm has that good..

as for TOA.. yes you will be disadvantaged if you dont get it.. but it isnt everything.. you can do without it if your clevr.. although master levels have some very useful abilities and artifacts are overpowered..

I'll be also getting ToA in a few days. I'm a DAoC on and off player since 2002. It also took me to get to 50 veeery long. I remember I've played first to level 30ish, then stopped. Played other MMORPG's. Then played more and got to almost 40. Then played other games. And finally at the end of 2003 I dinged level 50. I quit DAoC before 2004 hit tho. Now I'm gonna renew. I love the game and the RvR system beats the heck out of any other MMORPG's.

I definitly agree that Albion has a great leveling 40+ place which is Avalon City, there I did levels 40-50.
It's a bit true that its easiest to get xp group in Albion, then in Midgard, and last in Hibernia. At least from my experience trying other realms. I do remember though that once I got a great group in Hibernia - I really loved it.
Best choice for ya would be to join an active hibernian guild I guess.

but for what lvl is toa. When do those quests start at what lvl ?

Also is it just questing/trials or does it also have xp areas where you can just go xp with groups. The rewards like legendary etc , are they rewards once you finish the trials or do you also get nice drops when you just xp there ?

Im just wondering if i can wait till lvl 40 or 50 before i get toa or should i start right away ?

there is one lvl 25ish quest i think in the ruins of atlantis but toa is geared towards 30+ quests namely 46+

If you can find the groups to do it, some of the best training can come from artifact scroll hunting groups in ToA. This is because grouping with a few 50's who are after scrolls can be more effective than with a few 40-45's who want xp.

Population in ToA is pretty okey atm on mid /exc so come back and play mid exc :p:)

If you need answers on any question or so just pm me ingame on Ailyn or Stormie. (mostly online on weekends only right now thou.) Else ask someone else in Norseman of Midgard.

Edit: about Exping you shouldnt have any problems getting Grp in Darkness FAlls with any grpfriendlychar from lvl 20-50 . And Midgard mostly got df so :p

¤Join a large friendly guild that arrange pl sessions (ordinary grouping to exp is pretty much dead).

¤Get ToA when you are 40+

¤ML's can be started at level 40. Start them then or soon after as you will gain pretty good exp from doing them.

¤Try to get some artifacts at around level 45 and then combine exping artifacts with exping yourself (so you dont have to waste time doing both).

¤Get a buffbot, especially if you are going to play a stealther. 99% of the people you will be fighting in rvr will be buffed. Also makes it enormously easier to exp yourself and your artifacts if you dont get in pl grps. If you enjoy the game an extra 10euro/month is not much to pay really.

Woow !! misa and rulke !!

cant believe you guys are on this board hehehe. so super cool to hear from you again guys ! :)

yeah i remember the little warrior misa, ofcourse i remember rulke the nuke meister !! hehe

Misa werent you in aesir too then or ?

Ah rulke man like last year august or so i came back to daoc and started on prydwen, i went to play midgard prydwen coz my irl friend started there so i joined him. Then at 45 i quit there agai , a skald this time, coz i was bored of not having a group past 40 unless i wanted to wait for hours in malmo for a spot, bahh.

So i moved to hibernia, ever since the days i played with you guys still i had been wanting to start a ranger type so i did and this time on hib/exc hehe.
Actually funny part is when i came on exc i saw my thane lvl 48 was still there ! so i gave away the stuff to the first guys i came across and i even talked to damn now if orgot his name, the leader of aesir blades, and said bye and to say hi to the rest of the gang.

I then played hiberina/exc for 2 months or so but what made me leave this time was the fact that i tried to lvl with my irl friend, broa is his nick with his ranger, and i had wayyy more time then him to play so it took us 2 months to get to 33 and all this time i wanted to play so bad but always had to wait for him to show up. so i got so bored of the slow lvling in the end i just quit again grrr.

So now im back ill see how it goes now, my irl friend started his ranger again and sure we'll team but ill also just try to get to 50 regardless of him.

I'd love to play with you guys again but i like my ranger so much and i just want to get a char to 50 this time and get it over with so i can restart at 20/s next.

I got no clue about many things lol, so much to learn again and so much i forgot about everything, im a total newby now.

It's great to hear from you guys again man, man the best times i ever had in any mmorpg was with you guys back then :)) for real, i often think back to those days still. I've played so many mmorpgs since i left daoc for the first time, many beta's and many pay to play games. My last few were 2 months city of hero's, 3 months ffxi and 6 months everquest. Actually everquest is my longest lasting mmorpg so far hehe. I play so many hours a day i risk the chance of getting a burnout fast too and always im wanting to go back to daoc coz daoc gives me a purpose to lvl besides just reaching the next power etc. There's rvr waiting in the end where the real fun is !

Well ill probably buy toa by next week or when i reach lvl 40.

What is a good place for me to lvl at lvl 33 anyway. I guess SI ? my friend says he's still lvling there at lvl 42 and getting great xp. I saw someone mention that the foundation expansion is a great spot to lvl up and good drops ?

Hey rulke and misa, you both still play in easir or other servers or guilds etc nowadays :)?

Anyway thanx for the help guys,

Reggie

ofc you can ..just reroll midgard and make a hunter instead of ranger :). or whatever char you might want to play.

nah you dont remember me, well you cant remember me cause i didnt have any of these chars back when you played. Used to play norse huntress named Nydi Spears together with Dimicus & Etea back then. But come to midgard imo.

Someone pulling your leg there im afraid, foundations is the free housing expansion - consists of 4 zones that have only players houses and no mobs at all. Maybe they meant that you can get items there which is true: you can buy stuff from player consignment merchants (merchants that players buy and fill with items and then set a price etc), which makes getting items you need alot easier.

Camlan is a player vs player server, in english, but there are more germans and french there than english speaking people.

Wouldnt know about exping spots in hib im afraid as i play mid, but SI should have several nice spots for any given level.

Hhehehe thats to funny

THing is you mention the name nydi and im i know you !!
dimicus and etea i definately know, etea and dimicus hung out together alot and dimicus before he deleted his old thane was my game buddy, we always hunted together.

Im not exactly sure when but later on with their lower lvl char , i just had my main thane, there used to be a 3rd with them and that was you !! hehe lol

I think i met you a few times and said hi etc and i think i even gave you some stuff i didnt need anymore or maybe gave each of you some gold. I met you though for sure :).

Cool to see you again ! later when i left aesir i went to albion on prydwen but ah without my friends it just wasnt the same. Dimicus joined me in albion for a bit together with some other people from aesir but int he end it was just me mostly and i got so bored without my old friends that i quit the game.

I still have dimicus on my icq even although i hardly talk with him, we also played some neverwinternights together later on and etea joined in for a short bit too hehe :).

Im amazed i even remember that all, its so long ago !

Last year when i got back illu spotted me ahhh also an old friend hehehe. I think he is maybe still playing well he was til a year ago.

I cant believe you guys are all still playing daoc, thats just major woww !
i have played tons of other mmorpgs in the mean time hehe.

well then if i ever get to 50 this time ill prob start a char in alb. Somehow i always miss alb, i had a lot of fun back then when i moved to there. I like the realm alot even though i only got to lvl 23 or so i think back then.

First things first however, need to get ranger to 50 hehehe.

I cant even comment if hib is fun to be honest since all i've been is in SI since lvl 1 and i have no clue whatsoever about the normal zones in hibernia. Kinda sux coz means i also got no clue where to find people to team with.

Ah well today ill go try to get to darkness fals i think, we seem to be in posession of it, if i can find the way.
