Hi,
I've played the game since beta, unfortunately for reasons i've never gotten as far as lvl 50 lol. I believe this will be the 3rd time ill be back to the game, plan to anyway in a week. My highest chars have been 48 thane, 45 skald and currently my highest hib char is a 32 ranger i think he was. My thane i had to delete to be able to start a char on excaliber, the ranger on hib. I dont plan to play my skald till 50, i do however with my ranger.
I've been gone for almost a year again now but im wanting to go back and finally reach that lvl 50 on excaliber with my ranger.
I've played many mmorpgs but somehow daoc seems the most complete so far. Right now im still subscribed to city of hero's but waiting for my subscribtion to end and go try daoc again.
However im concerned about not being able to find a group. What turned me off with my lvl 40 chars was once i hit lvl 40 it was a pain to find any teams unless i wanted to wait for hours to get on the xp lists. If anything is boring its to having to wait an eternity to get a team, specially during my afternoons. I just happen to have alot of time on my hands and i can play many hours a day.
This seemed the case last time i played with my lvl 45 skald on prydwen. I then moved to excaliber again on hibernia this time, my first time in that realm, and made my ranger whom i lvld mostly in a duo with an irl friend ranger in shrouded isles areas. Unfortunately this meant i had no clue about the realm itself outside SI and only teamed outside SI once.
My question would be will it be alright to find teams on excaliber hibernia, not taking into account that im a ranger who supposedly has problems getting teams, since excaliber seemed alot more populated then prydwen ?
Also about this TOA, if i enjoy the game again ill just go buy it but what are the lvl requirements to start TOA quests ? Is it mostly for lvl 40 or 50 chars or is it needed i start with a low lvl char ?
The best time ever in daoc for me was rvr with my thane, after the game went retail so 48 back then was pretty damn high (ill never forget those keep raids during late nights and defending keeps boy oh boy were those good times sigh and i also had a total blast in the bg's with my ranger (who i must admit gave some sc'd armor and weapons hehe) duo'ing with my irl friend.
I read that with the arrival of TOA people run around in legendary stuf etc in the bg's which i guess will make it harder for me to play in bg3 but ah well cant have it all. Before i left last august the buffbot rampage wasnt to obvious in the bg's either and at below lvl 20 it wasnt to hard to find a team either although on prydwen midgard i noticed alot of buffbots, still it was easy to find a team. Only after lvl 40 it suddenly came to a halt unless i wanted to wait for hours in malmo for a spot in an xp list or got lucky enough to get a darkness falls team. For that reason i switched realms and started my ranger. Thing is if i wanna play i wanna play, i dont want to wait hours on the couch till i get a spot and sure i can start an alt but i'd rather play my main who i enjoy the most.
So how have things changed concerning this all ? I can understand less people below lvl 20 so ill be determined to reach lvl 50 with my ranger and just try to be patient to get on those damned xp list and probably powerlvl my way up to 50 if possible to get it over with so then i can use the /level command myself for new chars.
Hopefully the SI areas will be more populated by now coz i really enjoyed the areas but they were pretty deserted back then.
I'm hoping to reach lvl 50 asap so i can enjoy rvr and although i wont have a buffbot and that kinda stuff im sure ill still have alot of fun. However when do i start to need the TOA expansion, can i wait till 50 or should i get it before that and at what lvl ? If the TOA areas are well populated always then no problem coz the more teams avail the better and time investment isnt much of an issue for me coz i have plenty of time. TOA seems to bring back the days of pre spellcrafting where you were would actually enjoy drops from monsters instead of just salvaging them when i came back last year which was a big letdown for me.
I just always keep missing daoc rvr and pve, no matter what mmorpg i play and i must have played about 10 + beta's and pay to play mmorpgs since i left daoc which was my first mmorpg. Daoc just always seems to have done things right compared to flaws i see in other mmorpgs.
Thanx for the replies ,
Reggie
