well now the single player demo is out, what do you guys think???

i was a bit disappointed that they just used the multiplayer demo lvl, but i havent completed it yet, so is there a second lvl in the demo?

but all signs point to a good single player game

It's very slow and sluggish, but I think it will make a first-rate single-player game. The old video of the beach landing level is absolutely amazing.

Eh ?

I downloaded a demo a few days ago from a link in another forum, and it isn't the multiplayer map.

It's a huge level where you have to destroy an armoured truck, work your way through a village (which is brill) - destroy a Tiger tank, and then destroy four mortar type thingies in a huge field - like the one in Band of Brothers (episode 2 iirc).

It plays really smooth, and the AI is good too - well impressed.

That's the demo I got. It was supposed to be released January 8th, but was leaked out in a zip file. It's great.

Got that on PCZ disk this morning. Is it just me or do enemies spawn out of thin air in the buildings?

Yeah, I've suspected that but assumed I was wrong.

I havent played the SP or MP demos nearly as much as I'm playing Day of Defeat. Though I'm looking forward to this muchos, I suspect that I'm going to be a little disappointed with the full game.

PCZ said the game was better than HL :eek6:

Right, completed the demo on Normal mode. Seems very good but may get a little repetetive. It's very challenging though, and it's about time we had a hard game. RTCW was piss easy.

I've dropped the textures down to medium (I read that the high definition textures weren't included in the demo, so if you have the texture detail set to high there is a increased disk access) and the game runs a lot smoother.

I like it a lot, especially after having just watched Saving Private Ryan. ;)

'The Hunt' multiplayer map is a small section of this single-player map.

Although i do hope we will see another level being released as they did with the multiplayer version...

Thoughts here plz :D

I'll answer here seeing as I REFUSE to participate in DUPLICATE threads. Grr....

I reckon Omaha will be the crowning moment. I've watched an old E3 50MB video of the first part of that level and it is absolutely breathtaking. I've even showed my non-gamer friends who said 'Wow! Just like Saving Private Ryan! You actually play as one of them?' Powerful stuff. Possibly the first genuinely frightening game I've ever seen.

Basically I reckon it's far too good a level to blow on the demo. Plus the map they have released works for both multi and single-play whereas the Omaha one prolly would not. If you've seen the vid I think you'd agree.

I think this game will have a lot of surprises when it's released.

Also, why would they bring out a second single-player demo? It goes on sale in the US on 22 Jan, and early Feb in UK.

Is the video actually of the troops disembarking from the boat? Hmm, I'll make a note to download that when I get my new HD (only got ~50mb left on my 6 gig atm :/).

God, I wish MoH would run on my PC :|

No. The Omaha landing video. It's what a good, modern single-player game should be like.

The influence of Saving Private Ryan is very strong. You can hear a fella praying in the boat, water explodes into the air and rains down, the men hunch lower, then the doors open...

On the beach you can faintly hear shouted conversations drowned by the sound of explosions and richochet. 'What do we do, sir?' 'We're gonna die, sir!' and so on.

Prolly worth the money for that one level, imo.
