im thinking of replacing my motherboard as it appears i have fried the old 1. What problems may i encounter changing it, and can i reuse my P4 3.0ghz processor on the new board or do i need a new 1? Im not exactly sure what motherboard i have. Any recommendations on a decent motherboard for a semi good system, im looking for a mixture of quality and price. Any help you can give will be greatly appreciated.

Chances are your motherboard is socket 478 but you might want to confirm that by searching the board for brand names and model numbers, or by writing down the ID numbers printed on the chip and googling or as a last resort contacting intel with the serial number.

As a replacement I'd probably go for MSI or Asus if you're sure that the chip is still working, model just depends on how many onboard features you want really.
