The keyboard I have is US layout, any way i can change the " to an @ and vice versa ?

I dont want to set windows to use a british keyboard, as when I do this loads of other keys get messed up, like ~ ` \ | which are important... well the backslash is :)

All i want to do is swap @ and " - there has to be something, somewhere that can do this.

Looked into keyboard scan codes in the registry and been playing but if you change the scan code, the whole key changes which moves the actualy key for '2' to '"' arghhh

Is this happening with EVERY application you use or is it only certain ones? Keys tend to swap to US on MSN alot for me, just close and reopen.

Its on every application - as the keyboard is set to US (in windows) the problem is it really is a US keyboard, all the keys are in the right place and provide the right scan codes as if it was a US keyboard.

I just want to change the " @ around as its starting to bug me, without affecting any of the scan codes.

control panel -> regional and language options

languages tab -> details... make sure you have the English (United Kingdom) keyboard set as the only one.

Sorry Docwolfe, said in the first post that I tried this and it remaps all the other keys so i cant use backslash or other stuff.

I just want to change " and @ - nothing else. Its a US layout keyboard (using the us layout in windows so the keys all work)

I found this... you can do it manually through the registry. Although it says caps lock it gives the scan codes for all the keys.

Remap the Capslock Key in Windows XP, 2000, and 2003
