Relative New Player BB question

Hello,

I started playing Daoc about 4-5 months ago and so far have leveled a druid up to 50, got up to ml4 and soon rr4. I think maybe the game is less enjoyable not having a damage dealing class especially when it comes to 50+ leveling (i.e. artis). I mean i am reg/nurt speced it takes ages to kill even single yellows and that means levelling artis will literally take months i imagine. Would it be worth my while getting a new account and playing a light menta or enchanter BB'ed? How long would it take to level the new toon to 50 assuming he is fully buffed all the time?

If i was playing a menta would it be best to level with a split spec, so i can charm a pet with mana regen and fully buff it?

I guess im looking for a change from
1- See enemy group
2- hide or pull back
3- stare at heath bars and spreadheal whenver one starts to move
4- stick up
5 - repeat from (1)
....

Thanks

Well I like playing healing classes so dunno if it would be worth it.

Get ML5 for fop on your druid and lvl your second account in Fins though. Even though I don't like Fins it's about the only way to get to 50 these days imo. ( Without solo'in 90% of the time )

I still managed to find groups ok a few months ago and didnt go to fins at all. Will the number of groups have dropped even more since then?

dunno what you're talkin about m8 :/
with my warden 50 i helped a m8 lvl his Champ from 48.1 to 50. We duo'ed all the time outside Tur Suil on fomorians. We played about 4 times during 3-4 hours that means actually we did 1 week to get there as we didn't play everyday. I don't think that's an inhuman period of time to go from 48 --> 50 with two peeps and only warden buffs.
Unlike everybody loves to claim these days, lvling a toon is not harder than it used to be. imho it's the peeps who are desperately more impatient to get uber ToA capped, ML10, RR10+, ... and don't wanna be arsed with giving it the time it needs to lvl up to 50 before the rest.
Learn to start with the beginning...

Try and get your druid fop (ml5), this will help you to level a caster ,chose to afk at fins for 24hrs, solo to 50, or group. It will be invaluable leveling your artifacts too.

If soloing I would just level with full light till 40 and DD eveything, with fop all you need is a good spawn sight and youll make excellent exp. Once 40 aim for 45 light rest mana to get ok HoT for your pet, respec your druid to 44+ nurture so your pets are insanely tough, and you got possibly the best pve duo in hib.

As for how long it takes all depends... if you sat at fins and pressed fop every 10 mins then it could be done in under 24hrs, if you solo well days and days of hard work even with fop.

boni summed it up, might just wanna add that charming a sally for uber toaness on the ment requires 60+ effective light, so 48light/24mana for te low rr ment might be more handy.

on a sidenote, i wouldn't advise split spec for ment. as said above, get your druid to fop and go full light or one light lower than your level for first regen.

petting is nice ;) but from my experience nuking is just more straight and not that complicated if you plan to solo your ment.
i.e. pet usage causes quite some deaths, plain nuking is safer and thus faster tho even more boring

solo a high oj will cap your exp, but you may get a resist which means it will take 25-50% longer to kill, and drain a spell or two extra mana. A fully buffed light spec can nuke down a red without even kiting assuming you make sure you land an ok stunn first, but ofc using stun is not optimal, nor is kiting, you should only be using your DD.

to be optimal you should solo low yellow->low oj for about 75% of cap exp and virtualy no resists. Try dungeons or the frontiers, any spawn where you see a yellow/oj mix is good, if you want to be clever then find a mob weak to your dmg type and you are really laughing.

low orange will do best, low resists and steady, decent xp. tag along in general with plants like trees in the mainland and sylvan in SI, 20% dmg bonus on those with your heatnukes.

animals (mammals) are also nice tho tougher, aswell as most ghostly mobs who give dmg-bonus aswell.

once you get to the mid 40s go to nged and do bocanachs, those are piece of cake, and let you have the last level in no real time.

well a druid has much more to do than just healing, there's lots of buffshearing and root-interrupting involved. just standing behind a tree hitting spreadheal isnt very exciting no :p

maybe try to play the class abit more offensive before making your mind up about rolling a new char. light mage + fop is good exp if you decide to roll one anyway though
