My mate's XP machine is getting slower and slower. He's retired, but shoots wedding videos, edits them, prints DVD covers, etc. The machine is suffering from the traditional XP slowdown. It last saw a fresh install when new, over 5 years ago.
I have the XP disc supplied with his computer. Can I check, before I quickformat the drive, that its just a case of altering the boot config to boot from a CD, and that the OS will happily install itself from the XP disc? Its an install disc (with holograms), not an upgrade disc. I have (I think) all the other discs for the motherboard, video card, etc, so I should be ok. All passwords and things are safely stored on pen and paper.
