recording from tape to mp3

i have a bottom tape i want to put on my mp3 player.
but when i try to play it thru mic port, it plays fine, but windows sound recorder only records up to 60 seconds!
what can i use that makes the process easier?

There are plenty of shareware audio recorders that do the same job as the Windows one but without the limitations, probably some do direct to MP3 even.
