my favriot genre is probly historical fiction

If you like Historical Fiction then you will love these books and trust me they will keep you busy for a few weeks at least.

Colleen Mccullough

1. The First Man in Rome (1990)
2. The Grass Crown (1991)
3. Fortune's Favorites (1993)
4. Caesar's Women (1996)
5. Caesar (1997)
6. The October Horse (2002)
7. Antony and Cleopatra (2007)

I managed to get a hold of the first of the Genghis Khan series but i have not been up to Virgin to buy the rest of books and yes you are spot on, he is a cracking writer.

The series i recommend above is even better though, as it is far richer in detail.

The Night Angel trilogy by Brent Weeks.

1. Way of Shadows
2. Shadows Edge
3. Beyond the Shadows

Easily the best books I've ever read... and re-read, I've just recently finished them, again. Think I'm literally on the 10th time now.

Think a Dark Fantasy "Lord of the Rings", much, much darker and grittier, with the really stupid parts taken out :D

Honestly, anyone who hasn't read them, GO AND DO IT RIGHT NOW!!! :D

This!

dan browns books are good, i love the whole clues and mystery thing, well digital fortress was aload of shit but deception point is imo his best book

and the langdon trilogy is good aswell

no they really REALLY arent

they arent even original, having dredged other peoples work for many of the ideas, the main problem with Dan "i write like im still at school" Brown, is HE CANT ACTUALLY WRITE.

that is all.

Going to give another mention for a Song of Ice and Fire - think of it as the War of Roses in fantasy form.

If you like Dan Brown ( I don't - horribly written) then give Sam Bourne a go (as he can actually write properly).

Iain Banks writes good, if a little weird, stuff. Writes Sci Fi under Iain M Banks if that's more your cup of tea (his Culture stuff while not a series at least takes place in the same universe).

Anything by Haruki Murakami is a great read. Very lyrical writing style that is generally a counterpoint to his characters.

These were excellent - a lot more in depth than the Conn Igguldon books

This isnt historical but it's one of my fav books of recent years:
The Name of the Wind (The Kingkiller Chronicle): Amazon.co.uk: Patrick Rothfuss: Books

dont know if you into light fantasy at all but just about any robin hobb book is good they are all trilogies and each book ive read has had me readin to the point of gettin next to no sleep before getting up for work the next day.

best one to start with is the farseer trilogy first book is assasins apprentice there is another trilogy that carries on the main chars story and that is the tawny man trilogy.

not read the liveship trilogy yet but im told they are excellent currently on the 3rd book of soldier son trilogy and i think its fantastic cant wait to see how it ends the 2nd book was one i could not put down

i guess you could say they were set around medieval times

cant reccomend them enought tho they are amazing.

read the farseer trilogy, and at first didn't like the first person style or writing ect, but after a few chapters couldn't put them down, just ordered the tawny man trilogy aswell, nice recomendation, also i don't really horde thing i have nither the room or the patience, so if anybody wanted to read the farseer trilogy gimme a shout and ill send them to you, otherwise they'll end up binned or at a charity shop, but most likely binned xD

a song of ice and fire looks a good series aswell but atm can't seem to get them cheaper than £8 a book which is clsoe to £35 for the series, bit steep considering i can get the rome series tierk recomended for about £3-£4 a book

I've been reading the Wheel of Time lately and I must say I much prefer it to Malazan - check it out if you feel like reading 11,000 pages(and more to come) or so.

I love both, but really? Malazan has direction, and decisive writing, along with great character development. Wheel of Time drags on, and only really picks up pace around book 8.

Glad it's nearly over though, 2 more books to go and we will get some closure.
