Ok, so i started listening to my "Roadrunner United" album the other day, and that led me back to my In Flames/Soilwork and Children of Bodom albums too.

Now i was just wondering if anyone could point me to other bands that do music like this?

i dont like heavy grunt vocals, but strong vocal and a melodic corus with some pumping rift's is what im after :) (if thats any help? )

anyway, thanks for any suggestions :)

I swear this song is my answer to every band/song thread that gets put up.

YouTube - Fear of the dark Iron Maiden rare

Iron Maiden have an amazing range, dark/moody to light/melodic to downright hilarious :p and they all have amazing guitar work and vocals.

I'll just list a few that matches the 'strong vocal and a melodic corus with some pumping rift's' part :)

A Perfect Circle
Arch Enemy
Deftones
Disturbed
Dream Theater
Liquid Tension Experiment (no vocal tho, approx same band members as DT)
Machinae Supremancy
Megadeth
Mercenary
Opeth (prolly not your taste, but still well worth a listen)
Pain Of Salvation
Tool
Trivium
Volbeat

You might find some of it interesting, go youtube some of it, see what you like hehe... Well all the bands have at least two of the things you wanted :>

edit:

ow, check Category:Melodic death metal musical groups - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia <- think you want to listen to what some call melodic death metal ^_^

Prince !!!!

Ey....that's neither here nor there that Prince absolutely rules :D

I was gonna suggest a few bands, but with "In Flames/Soilwork and Children of Bodom" being so apart from eachother and your "no-heavy-grunt vocals, but strong vocal and a melodic corus with some pumping rift's" confused the bugger out of me so couldn't anymore :D

In fairness i can understand what the OP means hear, i like In Flames, and have a lot of songs of theirs on my playlist, but i despise growling vocals, i think it's the worst sound ever invented. I just try to tune out when the In Flames vocalist starts growling, and tune back in when he switches to clean lyrics. instrument wise, they rock as well.

Sentenced are good, especially their cover of "The Final Countdown"

I'm not a huge fan of Black Metal/Death Metal... Just meh to me.. I like Industrial a bit I suppose.. But here's some of the stuff (par-Metallica) which I listen to.

- Slayer
- Nine Inch Nails
- Twin Zero
- Ayria
- KMFDM
- Dope Stars Inc. (<3)
- Apocalyptica
- Apoptygma Berzerk

Yeah i know basically what he means, but the "randomness" of the request put me off from suggesting anything :D

'cause in every band i thought of, it seemed something contradicted one term or another.
