interesting stuff. i went on a few protests about things when i was a student but got disillusioned that a lot of the ppl on them just wanted to whinge about anything and smash stuff rather than actually being bothered about the cause. those that did care often did so for the dumbest of reasons with paper-thin arguments to back their views up

Last year's protest went ok, with only one, relatively minor, incident (someone 'defaced' a war memorial). Why everyone's getting in such a flap about it is beyond me. It's been built up way too much by the papers and the police, who are far too on edge to deal with this situation properly. They're going to be so jittery by tomorrow that things are bound to get out of hand.

As for the sentiments behind the protest, I have no problem with the "hippies", but then I have no problem with capitalism either. I am more naturally inclined towards the left wing, but that doesn't mean much.

It's NOT just London remember peeps. They had a real ruck in Seattle last year too.

Some shops in Oxford St and Bond St have already decided to close tomorrow - eg. the Nike Superstore. Let's hope it really pisses down tomorrow. That should dampen a few potential troublemakers' spirits.
