Thought I'd go a bit Mumsnet.

Decided to take the afternoon off to shop for, and prepare a scrummy meal for Mrs Yuck. It's her birthday and she isn't expecting a meal, we said probably a takeaway. Both up early tomorrow and both a bit knackered as we did the celebrations proper yesterday with family.
Thinking a curry or steak, she loves pepper steak.
Non pornographic suggestions welcome, I can get to a butchers or a fishmongers, and I can cook.

Samm did this last week but she didn't slow cook them (fried then baked with pasta and sauce with cheese on top) and they were cum inducing. She is a very good Italian cook but this just beat them all.

I don't know if it say's on that site but she cut the mozarella up and froze it to make it easier to mash the meat around it. She's always been excellent at massaging balls.

@Gwadien a meal isn't unless it has meat. Those parathas look good.

Tremlar we had Italian meatballs on Saturday, and Mrs Yuck is allergic to cheese. Which is sometimes a pisser when it comes to choosing a meal.

Yeah, then throw some chicken into it, I do it all the time it, just chop it up so it's relatively small chunks so it looks like it'll fit in.

Big supermarkets will sell Parathas in packets, which are lazy, but you can fry them, and they're still delicious.

Look up "Gordon Ramsay prawn pilaf" - chorizo and king prawns on spicy rice. It's pretty easy to make and delicious

Simplicity is the key in my view... A good piece of fillet cooked how she likes it (don't forget to take it out of the fridge well before cooking it) with a mixed lightly dressed salad or bacon wrapped asparagus and an excellent Barolo. If I came home to that I would be very happy indeed :)

I actually made that very Daal the other week. I cook a lot, especially Indian food, and the way of making the sauce in that recipe was one i'd never seen before. It was excellent, looked and tasted very authentic. The way it recommends to use the chilies gave it a very nice heat without being too hot (i added a few extra).

What gwadien has put together is missing a main dish. I'd have the tarka daal & aloo on the side of a dry meat dish - some butter chicken or tikka maybe.

If you want something a bit different and impressive, have a look for curry recipes with mango in. I make a Sweet Potato & Mango Jalfrezi quite regularly, but never tried adding meat to it.

If you're going Steak - A nice sirloin with dauphinoise, buttered greens and peppercorn sauce... can't really beat that.

If you're feeling adventurous, i'd do this - http://www.bbc.co.uk/food/recipes/lamb_three_ways_54983

I make the sag aloo (with chicken) a main dish, skill.

Some good suggestions, thanks.
Going for a mix, Steak with Peppercorn sauce (her fave) in a Sauce boat so she can drown it if she likes :)
Served with fresh asparagus (if I can get some) and Dauphinoise potatoes, her favourite Prosecco to drink. It's cold and miserable here so some nice winter food.
Birthday Cake for desert!
Got to get to the butchers now.

Saving those other recipes as they all look good.

I'm cheeseless, even under the rim I will have you know!

edit: Prep started, table laid, napkins folded all posh and everything. She likes candles (in a non "candles out girls!" way), so done all that too.
