Real Cd Key Read As Invalid On Won

I bought my Half-Life and have been playing it online along with the Team Fortress and CS mods. The CD-KEY normally works, but lately on my new computer there is an error that says, when i try to join an online game, "YOUR HALF-LIFE CD-KEY IS INVALID", then it forces me to type in a new cd-key for some reason. I can play my own lan games fine with bots, but the only problem is i cannot play online.
I know my cd-key is valid and i have used it before. Can anyone help me?

I had to download a file a short while ago and put it into my valve directory I think, if you havnt done this then I'm sure thats the problem .

Only thing is I forgot where I got the file from...

I'm not pretending to know the solution to this but I've got one idea...

Did you try to play HL on two computers logged onto the net with the same CD key? That's v likely to bugger things up for you. I'm pretty sure it will disable the CD key in that case.

no it doesn't disable cd keys, its meant to prevent 2 instances of the same cdkey playing at the same time, but it doesn't work well over lans

No its not, the WON file was simply to get around any DNS errors WON/ your isp may be having so you could connect directly to auth with the servers IP address.

Okay lets see, does it say CD key invalid AFTER it tries to join a server, or just when u click on internet games.

Have u reinstalled HL yet and tried everything from scratch?

Give us a bit more detail, but for now I think you should e-mil Valve's tech support as well.

I got a copy of CS found that the CD-Key didnt work then went and took it back and got another copy.

When i got back home tried the CD-Key that came with the box that i had taken back (Cos it didnt work) and found i had been typing in the wrong Didget, so i now have 4 online codes.



EB rocks with there 20 Day bring back for any reason

Didn't EB inviest in BW at one time or something ?

And maybe the guy up top bought one of the copy's you returned and he can't get his CD key cos you have it

I think you'll find thats didn't EB buy Barrysworld to save them from bancruptcy/liquidation a few months ago or the pricley sum of £800,000

Weird, i can log 2 games at once on line with the same cd key. It suprised me too, but it worked. Allways cool to chase cam the other player when your dueling him
