ReactOS is a project started in 1996 to make a fully windows compatible OS that was free. Version 0.3.0 has just been released.

http://www.reactos.org/xhtml/en/index.html

15.8mb download, amazingly fast install + boot. Now has networking support. Amazing work for an open source project.

Boots in 6 seconds in my virtual machine :)

Best of all its free.

First run: Install firefox and surf for porn in the sandboxed VM
Subsequent runs: Surf for porn in the sandboxed VM

Sounds impossible since I'm pretty sure the source of win2000 is not public property.

If they try to make a lightweight version of the OS without modifying the actual source I don't think the outcome with be that great. Somewhat like putting an apple instead the shell of a pear and then ask someone what it tastes like after they've taken a bite.
