She cant really veto things and she knows it, that's why she doesnt. Although yeah, technically she could :p

As a point of law she can veto it. By not signing the Bill she would effectively stop anything passing into law. However, it would cause a constitutional crisis.

She also has the right to call the Prime Minister to her to discuss political issues affecting her people. She is a bit like the unelected Bishops in the House Of Lords acting as the conscience of the house on behalf of the people. Several times during Tony Blairs reign he was called to Buckingham Palace to explain unpopular policies including the war on terror.

Royal families of Europe are all intermixed. Queen Victoria was known as "the Grandmother of Europe" for a reason. The "House of Windsor" was formally the "House of Saxe-Coburg" (German) and was changed by George V in 1917 when Britain was at war with Germany.

What is slightly amusing about the First War war, was that it was 2 cousins fighting a third!
