ok so today I logged on to check my emails, and to my suprise I found this, SFW btw

Anyway, as I said, Just back into the UK from the USA
and found your email address in my (UK) Yahoo date
folder - must be a bit old ?

If still OK on a meet please let me know and I'll send

Please reply to my UK yahoo address direct - not to my
datefolder - maybe that was the mistake.

Well it will get you on the spam lists. So your mail will be fucked up if you reply. I have gotten 2 spam mails the last 6 years because I just deleted BS like that.
One mail for serious stuff and a hotmail for registering on homepages etc.
So a really stupid idea to reply.

Delete and ignore ... if you reply your email adress gets marked as "confirmed active" and will be added to a list that spam companies can buy. The confirmed active email adresses are worth the most.

Not true. There are computers out there that send mails to RANDOM emails. They scan web servers for @ and use the @xxxx.yy and just add random letter combinations before the @. Ie. they scan a companies homepage and find joe@ibm.com, gec@ibm.com and teh@ibm.com. Next thing they do is to send out the mail to all the xxx@ibm.com combinations etc. Same thing with private mails. If they see that a mail is active, you can be sure they will be offered to companies that want to send out spam mails. THAT’S the lists I’m talking about.
Just for fun. Try to make a mail server and get all your friends to get a mail address from you. It should look something like this "first_initial second_initial@short_domain_name.com (As in TH@mydomain992.com, MH@mydomain992.com etc.). Try to reply to one of those "spam" mails. Chances are that your friend will start to get the same spam mails as you.
I have seen this on a few friends’ web servers and my company’s homepage was scanned for mail addresses.
So again DON'T answer the mail if you want to avoid spam mails.

And they use the dating sites too. There are bots that automatically register on the dating sites where millions of lonely guys are waiting for a letter from ANY girl on the dating site. The profile generated by the bot then sends out a standard mail/msg to all the guys on the site. In that mail/msg they tell the guys to reply to the mail they added in the msg. IF they reply . . BINGO . . they are added to the spam lists.
