My missus is absolutely convinced I'm a. telepathic, b. have the hearing of a bat, and c. the memory of an elephant. Sadly none of those things are true :(

Alas you ended up with d). The penis of a hamster. :(

I can't stand our university library because of cunts like that. There are a whole range of annoying things people can do in there. To list but a few:
  • People that take a desk, leave all their books and bags there and bugger off for three hours while you spend 20 minutes walking round looking for a space.
  • People that eat loud ridiculously loud food. I don't mind someone having a sandwich or something but some people take it too far. Someone once took a plastic sandwich container, filled it with cereal and added his milk from a seperate container. Cereal in the fucking library. While I admire his creativity I really did want to stab him. I once had a go at someone who was eating a massive (Dorito size) bag of hula-hoops in there. Literally the loudest crisp imaginable. I don't even know where he bought them from, you never see them. He probably ordered them off the internet just to go in there and troll motherfuckers in the library.
  • Mouth-breathers. This is often more of a problem in exams. I once had a three hour algebra paper with one sitting behind me. When you're on 6 hours sleep over the last three days this can be very frustrating. He also kept making this sort of grunting noise when he thought of something. Bastard. I bet he was really clever as well.
Obviously it's a public place so you should expect this sort of thing but still.
I only go there because you can't knock one out every couple of hours when you need a study "break" :(
:D

It was a group of five people sitting at one of the few larger desks with wide screens for powerpoints and whiteboards for drawing shit on etc. The first two hours they did fuck all but chit-chat as the group grew to full size(they started out as two at 9 o'clock, when the library opened, and ended up as five at 11).

This was when they started to rehearse their presentation for a course I already passed two years ago. Numerous events happened which all annoyed me:

  1. Their English was horrible. The accents were cringe worthy. The grammar was even worse.
  2. One dude had to go over multiple times because he was clearly nervous, despite just having chit-chatted with his friends for two hours straight.
  3. Loud talking on top level of the library so everyone could hear them clearly
  4. They were wrong and are all going to fail the course

So what's the reason to study at a library? No checkout? Easy access to more material if need be?

Kind of asking; why study there?

Yeah I never once studied in the library. Bit weird unless you live in very noisy halls.

Maybe I'm weird but I always went to my Uni's library because I've always found it easier to study in...not quite a "group atmosphere", but when there are people are around. As long as those people are also working.

I used to fucking loath when it came close to Leaving Cert (Final exam at the end of Secondary School for non Irish) time though because we'd have a bunch of fucwit 16 year olds in spending the whole day doing fuck all but wander around and talk to each other.

I can't really concentrate on my own in my room because I normally spend all my time there playing videogames and stuff. I always went to the library to write essays at uni because it was the closest place I could go to do the work that wasn't my own computer in my room.

I have no idea why most people go there though. I remember going in there to finish an essay and glancing over at the guy next to me who was just scrolling through pictures of girls on facebook. When I left 3 hours later with all my work done he was still there stalking people.

I piss around on the internet too much if I revise at home. If I force myself to go to the library just with printed notes / books I get a lot more done.

Is that a torrent? When I had BT they absolutely annihilated torrent download speeds unless it was really late at night. My university do the same but 24/7.

Yeah. Need to change my ISP. I just want broadband. Fast. Inexpensive. Unlimited. I don't want it packaged up with TV or anything else. Just internet. Is such a thing possible these days?

heh good luck! I wanted that here in the NL and ALL the major isps have the TV/radio/telephony deal. I had to go to a specialist isp and choose a specific package to NOT get TV rammed down my throat :(

Virgin tell you that you need phone + telly - but you can tell them to fuck off and insist on internet only. I bet that's the same for a lot of providers - they're not going to not sell you something - and getting some cash off you for internet is better than nothing.

I get my internets from them and nothing else.

The people who design car interiors with little gaps (black holes more like) designed for no other reason than to magically attract dropped pound coins.

Do they fall on the mat in the footwell? No
Do they drop on the seat? No, ofc not

Gone for ever. Even a police forensics team won't be able to recover them.

I no longer recognise gravity as a valid force

The main physical forces are:

- electromagnetism
- gravy
- women's tits
- that little white diamond of knicker you see when women sit down in short skirts on airport chairs

Windows 7 restarting during the night when I left the PC on downloading a game.

Best to remove automatic restart, it is annoying as hell.

"In Windows Update, click on change settings. Under Important Updates, select 'Download updates but let me choose whether to install them'. This will give you the control on when to install and restart if required."

There's more complex ways i think, but that should work.

It will still auto-restart if it thinks it's absolutely necessary.

ive been at home all day waiting for a delivery, heard the mail arrive while i was dropping the kids off at the pool (no doorbell just the rustle of paper through the letterbox)

found one of those "we tried to deliver but you werent home blablabla" notes, my first reaction was anger, then i realised that it was stamped yesterday, and so i can pick it up today... the lazy fuckers didnt even try to deliver it bastards! (probably my own fault for ordering heavy hardbacks from amazon)

Hubby's been unemployed for a week. The big question is which will come first? Me killing him or him getting a job?
