i fear there maybe a bad sector, or somthing, in my RAM..

CS keeps crashing to te ddesktop with a message "proccess at *some kind of address* referenced *a differnt address* and its gone tits up"
(this is only an aproximation of the error, i'll write it out fully nxt time i comes up)

so now to my main question...

are there any apps that can run a check disk, or simmilar, on my RAM?

just got it again... here it is

The instruction at *some kind of address* referenced memory at *differnt address*. The memory could not be "read".
its in a standard windows popup box

and the sound keeps repeating the last 1/2 second over and over

PS is it just me or can you only edit once???

MemTest86 is what you need. Download and burn the iso (or the floppy version) and reboot. It'll then run through a load of tests which should find most issues.

You can also run the extended test which seriously stress the integrity of your RAM but takes hours to run but will find any problem with your memory.

wyrd,

I got that EXACT same message last night immediately after updating STEAM/CS

I restarted Steam and it worked ok, so thought it was a steam related issue.
