ram woe's

got 512 of 2100 DDR ram
added 512 2700 DDR ram (bloke in the shop said it would be ok)

plugged it in - now there is a horriffic whirring noise - sounds like a overactive fan.

any advice?

just started up Warcraft Frozen throne - and the noise went away and is away now.

and it bumped my 3D-Mark score by 300 points - hurm shoulda done more i think

I would not expect a big game performance jump from doing that. If you was upping from 128MB to 512MB maybe, but going from 512MB to 1024MB I would not expect to make a big difference.
Could be wrong of course, but I would have thought getting 300 points from 3D mark for that upgrade seems good. Certainly better than nothing anyway
