Hullo hullo,

I managed to get a pre-built PC at a €300ish discount but because its a pre-build the RAM is a little odd, there is 3x 4 GB DDR3 -1600 RAM (PC3-12800) from a company called Hynix (never heard of them either) so i have a spare RAM slot on the motherboard

now my question is, does it, in a technical sense, matter if i find some other 4GB DDR3 .1600 RAM (PC3 -12800) from a different brand if it has all the same specs?

I ask because the only Hynix RAM sticks i could find where from US eBay with a hefty price tag!

It could matter. But with the same specs, it shouldn't. A gamble really.

Hynix are 2nd largest memory producers in the world, i trust they produce their sticks to standards, so it should work with most other brands, considering it's still actually Hynix underneath :)

For example, most of the Corsair Vengeance sticks sport Hynix modules. Perspective, meet Ormorof.
