Radio in TFC2

Is it true that TFC2 is going to support voice comms between players?

Won't this affect the play? After all,if you found out that SuicidalTart was actually an 86 year old Great-grandmother from the Isle of Man or that Captain_Chaos was a spotty 10 year old surely this would affect your expectations of them

Well, i for one am looking forward to the voice comms, I think it can only add to the game. Especially when I'm the guy screaming "MEDDDDDIIIIIIIIIIIICCCC!!!". Lets see 'em ignore me then!

from what i have heard - there is NO voice communication between the players, but what they have is better. apparently when you shout something into ur mic the game interpretes it and writes the message on the screen, like those dictation software thingies

U heard wrong buddy. If you talk into a mic, TF2 will send it along the modem cable and ur team mates will see your mouth move and yer words come out

) Quality of the speech depends on your bandwidth. Where the hell did you get that voice-recognition stuff from?? Surely that'd be a huge CPU hit...

who cares .... tf2 is supposedly gonna be more like cstrike...in which case valve won't get shit all more money outta me (they've got enough and they make crap patches to buggy games....stuff em)

I heard this too but I hope they release a beta or something, but I'm still gonna buy it even tho I don't much like CS. I've heard that it's the realism that resembles CS but there's so much more to TF2 which is why I hope they release a beta.

As far as I am aware the "voice" program would make the bandwidth smaller which means higher pings and more lag.

I am also aware that they tested it with HL and found that it caused too many bandwidth problems unless you have T1's

I've long been worried about the bandwidth 'hit' for 56k'ers, when TF2 comes out.

It uses some kind of variable speech codec that allows the actual players mouths to move in real time to what he/she is saying.

I refer you all to [SLH]Silentbob's site, which has some decent info from ECTS. He's gathered a good amount of info on this upcoming release.
