Radeon 9800 XT Issues.

I like my games light, gamma up etc. Desktop colour is also light.

When I play CS its fine, it stays light. But when I play Doom 3 and CS Source it goes mega dark ingame even with the game gamma right up, then when I quit to desktop it stays dark until I go to colour settings then it goes back to normal.

Any ideas because this is pissing me right off now.

I had this problem on my 9800 Pro on CS, but quake 3 was ok. To work around it, I had to create a custom desktop gamma level in the ATi control panel called "half life" which I switched to from the system tray whenever I wanted to play.

See if it works for you with Doom 3.

Doom 3 and daoc are really dark for me sometimes on 9800 pro ;( (How comes the flamey avatar works for you when its too big for me? )

That or a utility like powerstrip (http://entechtaiwan.net/util/ps.shtm) which lets you assign hotkeys to adjusting gamma from anywhere.

It's one of the very few things I allow to run at startup, but that's mostly because I use it for OCing my card as well.

Powerstrip is great. Big G is fairly sexy but Mr Black is pure horn tbfh.
