radeon 9700 non-pro or geforce 4

Is the radeon 9700 non pro version better than the geforce 4 ti 4600. Because I like the fact that its agp 8x and supports direct x 9 even though games have not yet been coded for it I would rather have it on a card now then have to buy new one later. But theres some qeustions of stability with the 9700. So what do u people think. 9700 or ti 4600
