I have the Radeon 9600PRO, runs fine on any game. Try running with a driver other than Catalyst drivers (spelling?) as it sometimes bugs with them, other than that..i dont know
Ok, for starters do NOT use softmodded drivers when diagnosing problems. And ignore Retrakith - if he wants to be a pleb that's all good and fine, but not in here please.
The first thing you should do is give us a full breakdown of the kit inside your PC, your OS, service pack status, version of DirectX and the driver you're using. Then we can go about fixing your problem.
Ok, so that we can actually begin to fix it, are you back at XP / SP1/1a and DirectX 9.0b ? Let me know when you're all updated and we'll have a crack at sorting you out.
Ok, well I'd whack the latest catalysts in there, preferrably downloaded from ATI.com, I've spotted a few bugs in the current release (4.5) but can't see 4.4 available for download on their site, but not to worry, none of them are exactly show-stopping and they're due to release another WHQL revision to iron out the issues shortly...
Once you have video drivers installed we can look at resource conflicts and whatnot, which is a second port of call methinks...
Ok, next step - go into device manager, (right click my computer, -> properties -> hardware -> device manager) select 'resources by type' under the 'View' menu, and then expand 'Interrupt request (IRQ) - are any of the devices in there sharing an IRQ with anything else? or does each device have it's own IRQ number?
Ok, do you have your old card to hand? What was it? And is your motherboard running the latest BIOS?
Don't worry about the USB, they're fine to share, I was more concerned about your AGP card using a shared IRQ... Sometimes they end up on the same interrupt as your Soundcard, IDE or if you have it, SCSI, and that can cause merry hell.
You're going to NEED to know what motherboard you're using, have a look between PCI slots 3 and 4 for a model number (it's usually there, printed in big white text) - have a look for the manufacturer name too if you can spot it...
No model number or make, i've had this before and it's a pain in the ass.
There any programs that can tell me what mobo I have?
edit: Thinking about it.. elite something comes to mind, do they make mobos?
There is a sticker that says EA= then a long number.. but thats all I can find.
I'm not sure if I have the latest bios, I've never updated it tho..
Oh and, my old gfx card did this... i'm not sure if it was because the card was buggerd tho as i've had it a few years and the fans breaking down.
if you are realy quick, there should be a series of number and letters on the bottom of the screen after the HD detection (press pause write it down and post it here)
Ok well after lots of unfortunate events (namely me crushing the core of my spare pc's cpu ) I have my other pc up and running again, however I still have this problem.
If I install any new drivers it imediatly gives the big gfx bugs on the desktop, if I install 4.4 it runs games fine for about 15mins then huge gfx bugs in that. (Game is daoc)
The motherboard must be almost 2 years old now, it only supports apg 2x so as you can see it's not so good . Do you think maybe its the motherboard thats causing these problems? Remember I had a 9600se which did the same as this 9600pro so I doubt its the actual card itself..
