Race selection for Hero?

I understand there are three choices:

1. Firby
2. Celt
3. Luri

I really like the idea of rolling a Luri as a defensive Hero. I'd imagine he'd be awesome at blocking and parrying because of high dex and quickness. Is this a viable choice?

Also, is an offensive Luri Hero viable? Perhaps an LW user?

If Luri Hero is viable, how would I spec the initial 30 points?

TIA :)

Go for Mini-moose for comedy value alone :m00:

10str/con/dex

50weap/50shield/28parry ;)

Max Blades or Blunt and Shield till level 40, this will give you the best group spec, try not to waste points on parry too early. Whatever you do your going to want to get 42 shield, so you may as well max shield up to 40, and respec your blades or blunt to LW / CS at 40 which will be more effective in rvr.

All the races are viable for a hero. If you go Firby, your never gonna defend like a mini-mouse, but then a mini-moose wont hit as hard as a firby. Celts a nice balance of the two, which is why I chose it.

With parry/block still largely ineffective in grp rvr I would go firby, when stat caps change to allow for greater racial stats then you'll be a firby with a hell of a lot of weaponskill :)

I would say luri was good for pve, just not sure about the defensive values being much use in the end game.

I only chose celt cos at the time I was a total noob, mini-moose would have been so cool :)

Only thing that stopped my being a firby is that you lose 10 spec points to empathy. I guess its ok if you consider that strength is twice as usefull as dex/qui....

nah str doesnt matter too much in this patch due to caps, but it's the low qui which is good :)

Guess so, if you want to max your frontloading, better hope they dont nerf it soon or youll just end up with a fat slow firby. They seem to be hinting at doing something to sort the style/quick thing out...

Spear is pierce, but like blades/blunt/lw is 100% str. Whereas pierce is 50/50 str/dex so takes advantage of the luri's higher natural dexterity.

doesnt have to be pierce for luri, infact blades/blunt has better styles for a shield user, also u wont see any difference in weaposnkill at lvl 50 cause heros get more str per lvl anyway..

ofc you will see a difference.

gl with using any styles off a block in general rvr, its very rare. pierce has a very nice 4-style anytime chain which is superior to anything in either blades or blunts anytime.
