I remember when I lost one of my cats. We used to have a pair of Tabbys, brother and sister that my parents bought a year before I was born. The male, Beenie, lost one of his back legs when I was very young, and he nearly died from it, but boy, nothing could outrun that three-legged cat. :D

Eventually as he got older his kidneys couldn't take much more and had to be put down, and to lose a cat you've known all your life is as bad as losing a family member. We still have the female cat, very old but still going strong. :)

My cat got it's tail ran over when it was young and had to have it cut off. It now has a little stump that wiggles around when it's happy.

my cat used to beat up the dog next door but now even the guinea pigs give him a hard time. i've been trying to beef him up to make him seem meaner but despite the fact he now weighs a stone he is still a wousse

Sorry to hear that Salty :( Guess we all gotta go one day but it's true....it doesn't make it less painful knowing that. At least the cat isn't suffering anymore :(

awwww :( i had my cat put down a couple of years ago, had to hold her while they did it, then i buried her in the back garden. Sometimes thought it really is for the best.

Wouldn't you be better buying a cat that looks completely different and has a different name for Christmas? You don't want to be replacing the old cat, but finding a new companion. I know I'd be a bit offended/worried if I was a cat, and suddenly found the house filled with photos of my deceased look-a-like.

My dog got put down about a month ago. It's a horrible thing, you know its the right thing to do but you still feel guilty. You've got my sympathy Salty.
