Only dex and +casting speed inflicts on your "spell-casting" speed (RAs also increse casting speed). However qui does inflict how fast u "melee-swing" that staff of yours - and that only :p

quickness does definitely not affect casting speed
quickness is good for two things in DAoC, your swingspeed with a weapon and evade, no more, no less

Does that mean quickness will be good while using Rune of Utter Agility in NF? :>

according to the runie TL its rubbish because the "chance to evade" is calculated with WS and so with a runies 700 or whatever WS its going to be complete and utter rubbish :p

Quickness affects how long you have to wait until you can cast again after staffkilling someone! :D

Aye, i've heard it affects how long you're interupted (speed on staff that is)

Dunno if it has anything true in it tho :p

i suppose it could be to do with being interupted for 2 combat rounds for example (so that would be like 10s with a spd 5.0 staff, but much less with the quicker ones :p )

I wouldn't bet on it; certainly the time you are interrupted is dependent on the speed of your opponent's weapon if you have been hit in melee. Interrupts due to spell damage I am not sure about. I do know, however, that swing speed has a direct influence on the time it takes for you to leave attack mode and be able to cast again. :) (This, I imagine, is most relevant to hybrids with castable spells such as friars, valewalkers and thanes.)

As far as I am aware there is a little history behind this.

Mythic intented part of the interruption code to be based on the quickness of the person interrupted. Hence casters have quickness as their third stat. Supposedly it -does- affect this, although so minimal that you couldn't test it. It got changed at some point though and thus have little (read: none) effect.

That means any quickness for a caster is a waste, unless you plan on staffing alot to death (which you hopefully don't). :)
