A mate of mine at work is trying to get a hold of some software which will block porno sites etc. as he has a young son who is starting to experiment with the internet.

Can anyone recommend any?

Net Nanny comes to mind, but I'm sure I read some disturbing reports about it somewhere. Of course, I may have dreamt that.

Let him find porn. I'd be more concerned about blocking off violent and disturbing sites: porn isn't the worst of the net worries - he's going to look at it one way or another, better not waste your moeny to find him getting around it....

Looking at porns a natural thing :D

We stuck Net Nanny on 1 of the directors home pc's for his kid, not seemed to have any problems with it, cant hurt to try? (he was only a very casual user though)

Its not so much the images that would worry me, its the associated words and text that accompany the images. When I was a lad, if you managed to get hold of a jazz mag, it was all relatively clean, no swearing, no talk about bottom sex, or barely legal teens, any of that shite.

I'd actually recommend AOL, I set up the parental filter on a friends PC and it works great, can't get to any of pr0n sites, that is, the ones people tell me about :)

You can't get to any sites with AOL ffs :)

The best one for 9x used to be CyberPatrol, it was the one coded by hackers & basically if you fucked with it you'd not be able to use the OS until you enter a code which basically restored CyberPatrol to full operation. Dunno if it's still about though.

Yeh i'm sure if you look around there will be a free browser which has lots of content blocking function built into it, he could then use that to browse the inter-web. gl
