Hi,
Having played CS:S a bit for the last few days it is becoming obvious that I'll be needing a new PC soon. It plays OK till I get in a shooting match and then falls down badly, perhaps to only one or two fps. I have turned all setting down to their minimum, and have dropped the res to 1024x768. I have also installed the latest drivers but it is still pretty bad.
My current set up is an XP2000+ athlon with a GF 4400ti card and 1.5Gb of RAM. I have a reasonable amont of HDD space left at the moment.
With christmas fast approaching and car tax due any day I can't spend teh £1000 or so I'd like to on a new PC so my what I need to know is whether there is a cheap graphics card out there that would improve my gaming experience in teh short term, whilst I save for a new system?
I am sure that for £50 - £100 I could buy a card that would out perform the old 4400, but would I see any real improvement or would the CPU and mobo just hold the whole thing back anyway?
My current mobo is an Abit KR7A-133 without the raid.
Any ideas? Thanks in advance
RB
