questions on hibby on this server

looking at making a char on this serveer in hibby land
wish to know a few things

what chars is the server lacking (dont want to follow crowd and roll an uber class i wanna be useful)

and if poss since i know nothing about hib what do the chars do? i have a healer on mid would like some comparisons between hib and mid? anyway thx in advance for help alot

FYI druids are like healers but without any CC (except root) or run speed chant, but they get a small dot and a gimped grey - green con pet depending on spec.

And group purge of course.

Warden / Bard, youll have to hide from groups rather than look for them

Useful classes (non-uber) are the support classes, such as Warden, Druid, Bard or Mentalist. Although ask any of them and they will say they are the most deadly class in the game, its hero/eldrich envy

Hero - Just a good fighter. Just like warriors. Heroes can use scale, shortbow and can moose at level 15. Enough around, not too much, not too few.

Champions - The masters of duelling. They have a DD shout, STR/CON decrease, DEX/QUI decrease, attack-speed decrease, and a snare. They can use all 1-handed weapons, up to medium shields, and LW. People look for a hero as tank first, but champs excel in pulling (fast) and their tanking skills are fine. Enough around, not too much and not too few. Not comparable to any of the mid classes.

Blademasters - The (very) under-rated class. They are actually quite good, but the higher level they get the more effective. They get tripple-wield ability at level 20, the green flashy sword you see sometimes It's on a 30 min timer. Comparable to zerkers in midgard, but instead of LA they have Celtic Dual which works very different and has -very- weak styles. Few around, not too popular in groups, but they make fine tanks. Can only use reinforced armor.

Bards - Just like skalds they have songs, but you need instruments to use them. Skalds are far more combat-oriented, bards are far more group-friendly. Bards get the baseline buffs and healing ability. They have endurance, power, health and speed songs. (Make sure to keep nurture maxed for songs). Bards also have the "uber" crowd control - baseline single-target mezz, aoe-mezz is in the "music" specline. Every group needs a bard, and there aren't many around, so go figure

Wardens - Scale-wearing blade-turn providers. They aren't wanted at low levels, but the higher level you get the easier it gets. At post-40 you will have to go /anon because group offers are driving you nuts Keep nurture maxed for bladeturns. Wardens also get baseline buffs. Wardens can tank, heal, buff, provide bt's but excel as a support class (enough weaponspec to tank, but high nurture/regrowth).

Druids - Like healers in midgard. Instead of pacification druis have the 'nature' specline which gives you AoE-root, DoT, a pet and a damage shield. Druids are pretty much wanted in every group, granted you are a healing/buffing one.

Note: All magicians have a baseline DD (heat), baseline STUN, baseline AF buff, baseline dmg shield and baseline absorb buffs. Eldritches all have a bolt. Enchanters all have the pets and speed. Mentalists all have heal and DoT.

Void-spec-Eldritch - Great in solo-PvE, not wanted in group-PvE, not wanted in group-RvR. Bolts are bugged in RvR. GTAoE is a nice tool, but getting to a proper level is hard

Light-spec-Eldritch - Great in solo PvE once you get the 5-sec-stun. You will do good in groups but you have no means of AoE damage. You will also get nearsight, DEX/QUI debuff and mediocre AoE-mezz.

Mana-spec-Eldritch - Check the character builder for spells. Their main features are a DD+spare and of course PBAoE. They also have lots of speed-decrease things. Pretty good in PvE, wanted in groups but there are ALOT of mana elds.

Light-spec-Enchanter - Same DD as the light-eldritch (it's really good) but instead of nearsight, aoe mezz and dex/qui debuff you have speed and a pet.

Mana-spec-Enchanter - PBAoE is the main feature. TOo many of those around. You also get a focus-damage-shield for your pet that is pretty good for solo'ing.

Enchantments-spec-Enchanter - Pretty useless... Combine it with light if you really want to spec enchantments. If you go pure enchantments you get a good pet, but no DD, no PBAoE and no friends

Light-spec-Mentalist - Very nice spec, just like a light eld, but instead of aoe mezz, nearsight and DEX/QUI debuff you get a AoE-damage spell and charm ability. If you want to charm creatures, make sure you put points in mana because it takes power every tick you keep a creature charmed.

Mana-spec-Mentalist - Also a very nice spec, you get mana regen, AoE dot, specline-singletarget-dot. Abit like a shaman but they can't heal aswell nor buff.

Mentalism-spec-Mentalist - Useless. You can heal very nice, but pick a druid if you want to heal.

Nightshades - No advantage over shadowblades or infiltrators but you can be a luri Not wanted in groups.

Rangers - Like hunters, but "better". Not wanted in groups.

Think that covers it Not many classes are directly comparable but I hope this answers your questions. I like all of those classes really, but if you make a bard you will be very happy for sure. Playing a bard will be nice to learn the realm as you have speed and many groups that want to take you in.
