Question Regarding Haste/Celerity

Right, i know with Quickness going over the cap of 250, the damage begins to negate while the swing speed stays the same (So 250 quick is the same swing speed but more damage than that using 260 quick). However, when using Haste+Celerity, if this was to calculate to go over the hardcap swingspeed (1.5s), would the same negation in damage be present?.

For example, if random person X was to have 250 quick+17% haste+30% Celerity swinging at exactly 1.5s, would they hit for the same damage as random person Y who had the same but was swinging at a lower calculated speed, although capping at 1.5s still.

Any input from daoc guru's or GM's would be much appreciated :)

No, they would swing for the same.

That answer is, ofcourse, based purely on speculations and old grab bag answers - and thus not tests of any sort.

But, the reasoning is like this:
When you get haste (ToA or the normal haste buff - let us call it base haste) you swing faster, but your base DPS remains the same. Your style bonus is not affected by this, so your overall DPS increases.
When you get celerity (and let us call this spec haste), your damage per hit remains the same, but your swing time is improved. Thus, you hit for the same, but faster. Or, your base dps is increased.

Now, unless you use a very fast weapon setup, you will most likely never reach the cap swing speed of 1.5 - even with 250 qui, 10% melee speed and 20% base haste buff.

That means that it's spec haste (celerity) making you hit the swing speed cap of 1.5. And that doesn't decrease damage per hit and thus no damage lost on the current weaponsetup.

Now, you might argue that you last some potential damage though. Forinstance, if you don't really gain the full benefit from spec haste. In other words, you might have kept swinging at cap speed (1.5) with even slower weapons and thus done more damage.

That's my reasoning. Pure speculation ofcourse. If you have another oppinion, feel free to link to the test. :)
