Its racist to say coloured. So the sheep could be blue, purple, pink, white aslong as you tell it as that. Just in the rhyme the sheep is black!

When a white person is hot he is red.
When a white person is cold he is blue.
When a white person is scared he goes pale.
When a white person is sick he is green.

When a black person is hot he is black.
When a black person is cold he is black.
When a black person is scared he is black.
When a black person is sick he is black.

And you have the nerve to call them coloured :( ?

so white people are more diverse ?
no I'm just kidding, tbh i find the whole concept diferenciating people by race, skin color yada yada ect utterly moronic and stupid, guess tho that thats due to me having grown up in eastafrica and had from childhood both black and white friends so i never really noticed the difference ;)

oddly the only place I've ever faced racsism is here in denmark from young wannabe gangstarz second gen-arabs... funny innit ?

why hate someone you've never met or know a thing about.? execpt that he has a certin colortone of skin..it baffels me to this day tbh....

hmm think i went and turned a fun thread into something seriouse..off to bed with me tbh

I think It'd be more of an insult to call a black person 'uncoloured' though tbh. I really think the whole political correctness thing is getting out of hand through the media; although in a local view of things for me, I don't see it as badly portraied (sp?).

I think that rhyme is considered racist as the lyrics themselves specify giving the bags of wool to your master and although it is refering to a sheep, the subtle nature of it could be seen as a methaphor for a black slave.

And no, I didn't realise 'goomba' was a racist word either, much like I didn't realise 'spik' was either until a couple of years ago. One of my friends whenever drunk would often do tasks very very fast and clumsily and so was refered to as 'spikking out'. Bear in mind this was years and years ago and I'm just glad I never said it really, but more so that I found out before anyone got offended by the reference.

Reading about the origin of the word goomba and how it's used, it's even remotely as offensive slur. Italian-Americans don't take any offense for it and seem to use it all the time, even calling their own shops Goomba like this one: http://www.goombas.com/
Goomba is used to refer an Italian-American who might have links to the mob.

The person who told you it was a racial slur in the sense that it was offensive it one fucking dickhead.

i thought (and have heard) goomba as being an itallian american put down a bit like jewish folks call people a klutz or schmuck.

[edit: oh and the people who say its offensive...theyre probably white middle/uppermiddle class who are members of the local PTA and are the same people who know absolutely NO muslims but insist that muslims are deeply offended by the celebration of christmas, flying the george cross and eating a bacon sanger in public, if i actually had any money i really would put it on this being the case]

Goomba is nothing more then a squishable little evil mushroom :flame:

Especially since it can't be racist since it's an italian plumber doing the squishy.

Rasicm in itself is a bit silly, white people are more defending non-rasicm then black. "Oh no! don't say that! You're white!". orient don't really give a f*ck, and all the time rasicm has bought the humanity where it is today. It's not good, but it is what brought us here. Part there of.

Well, it ain't perfect, but without slavery and rasicm, black peeps would still be running around in their undies chasing gazelles.

Bet a few whities come down on this post like a ton of bricks too...

F*ck that! I say what i want, when i want, and if i say something about black people i'll say it to their face too. Only people who can complain about it are those people i supposedly "insult".

TBH things are only racists if the person who says them means them to be, but the whole idea of racism is so stupid, I agree with Fafnir, we are all the same species, we are all people, I wish people could see that rather than making big deals of really small differences.

Sometimes I'm scared of talking because I fear I could say a racist word. Then I think about how much I don't care about political correctness and laugh at all those idiots who take offense in small things.

"The word 'N*gger' and 'Man' can no longer be said together! As long as both words are ATLEAST 7 other words apart, both can be said with no problems!"

what makes me laugh is people of different races are very carful not to insult others but they are happy to insult the hell out of their own race...however anyone else does it and its a big no no, I mean we've all sen that chris rock video where he keeps using the N word... imagine a white guy in the audience piping up "I totally agree with you chris you make so much sense man I hate N's too!" I tell you the laughter would stop dead.

tbh though people will hate eachother no matter their race, take africa for example (this is a rather apt one too what with the anniversary of the abolishment of slavery) most people think "africa, ruined when white man came in, native black africans sold in to slavery and the peaceful villages pillaged and burnt" yes this is true but the native black africans from other tribes used to hunt down weaker tribes, rape their women, kill the babies and sell the survivors in to slavery.

The arab nations were (afaik) either equal or greater figures in the slave trade but I didnt hear them being called upon to apologise for something that happened befoe anyone alive today was even born!...hang on a mo i'm going off the point, but its a good one so i'll make it anyway I really disagree with holding people accountable for the actions of their ancestors, you can only be accountable for something you took part in or had the ability to prevent, unless theres a really really old dude here somewhere then no one can (or should) have to apologise for slavery.

Now where was I *adjusts specticals*

*remembers I don't wear specticals and takes them off* ah thats better I can see now, any way I think I was basically saying that people will hate and exploit eachother no matter the differences, folk should stop using emotional/political blackmail against people who act without malice and sould save it for the people who actually do act out of hatered.

(so singing baa baa black sheep or saying "you mean stuart the big black guy or stuart the little weedy bloke from accounting" should not be treated like those who use the joking racial comments to veil actual spiteful meaning)

sorry i ahvent spoken to many people today and lol i think i need to converse

Racism is in how you something, not what you say.

Saying "hey *****, whats up!" to your best mate, who happens to be black and knows your joking at the stereotype, not him himself is harmless. You both know it, but the PC brigade wont tolerate it.

Saying "hey *****!" with a slur on the word in a harsh voice on the other hand could mean the complete opposit and is obviously meant as an insult.

It's funny how calling someone what they are can be an insult.

***** is Negro, someone who is obviously black and a Negro being called a Negro is an insult for saying what they are? The words themselves are harmless, its how society views them that turns them into insults.

Logically you would think people would take pride in being called what they are.

The term God does not apply to one specific deity:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/God

It's merely the term we use for the ultimate supreme being in our language. A boring answer but there ya go :p

I know a Jamaican man, who jokes about his ethnicity. Say things like: 'I got battered last night, he gave me a white eye, and thin lip'. Some people can be offended, whilst others aren't. I think it is always best to box clever, and not say things that could be seen as Rascist. Rascism, sexism, homophobia are wrong. I couldn't care less if someone said something like that to me: I just hug my wife.
