Hi all,
I've been using Demon for some years, but had always found the service a little hokey for online gaming. So I had another ISP I used instead, which seemed stable and gave better pings.
That ISP was (is) Intensive Networks. Now for some reason I cannot connect to them, and while I go through the support channels finding out what’s going on I thought I'd do a little research and reassess the current ISP market.
In doing so I found many of you advocating Demon and being the bee's knees for multiplayer gaming, many citing the ability to turn off IP header compression as being one of the leading factors you love the pointy horned ISP so much
So, my question for those of you using Demon, particularly if your ISDN users, what "advanced settings" are you using? The ones you can tweak from the "https://www.password.uk.demon.net" URL.
Up to recently ping time hasn't been that important to me, stability and lack of packet loss was key. I play Asherons Call allot and ping times of 300 ms to 500 ms are quite playable. But now I'm getting more and more into Tribes, and looking forward to Battlefield 1942, and I feel my "twitch" needs refining
Cheers gang!
(oh, and to you Cable/DSL users, ask BT/NTL/BlueYonder why I don't have broadband, not me ok?
