Probabaly just best to stick charges on it since the only time ya gonna be hit in melee by something is when your pets dead and you have that little 10% HP left.

Well:

Procs only fire when that armour part is hit. Since you can only take 1 hit after pet dies - its pointless

Necros STILL cannot use alchemy charges/potions in shade mode. So no point in these either.

Short answer: No - save your money

(Insert more whines about the stupidity of this here. And its all because some idiot gave Mythic a (badly flawed) hypothetical exploit of how a necro could solo a dragon :p )

Considering bad pet pathing, adds, resists because of a level ~90 mob, hits ranging from 700 to 2500, no melee resists etc. :p

Your totally missing point sharma. Pet pathing, melee resists and/or a mobs melee damage output has nothing to do with it.

Reason for necros being unable to use charged items or alchemy potions is because someone suggested to Mythic that a necro could:

1. Park pet max distance behind themselves.
2. Move themselves close to a high level (unsoloable) mob
3. Use a charged item (the typical 331 DD charges)
4. Repeat until mob dies

At this point (back in beta for SI) the mob would aggro on the necro - not the pet - under these circumstances. The necro was invincible, so could wait for the timer on charges to elapse safely before firing the next charge.

Totally ridiculous, it would probably take a few weeks (and a few thousand charged items) to kill any mob doing this that couldnt be solo'd - but rather than fix it properly they put the workaround (aka nerf) in place and havent revisited it since.

The same could be done PvP (park pet inside a keep, or some other spot out of LoS) but that wasnt the argument being used at the time, so is pretty much irrelevant.

The only 2 things a necro needs after pet dies is:

1. Health Potion

or

2. A resser

I go for the health potion, it had saved my skin several times.

necros not using charges is more likely due to the fact that necro could still dmg opponents when mezzed/stunned

..

Just a quickie...does a heal proc (if there is one) go off before you get hit, ie a milisecond before or after the first hit is scored?
