Lag doesn't affect 90% of what you do on the internet. It makes no difference when downloading, surfing, chatting etc. Even playing some games is fine. Only when you need a consistant high speed connection will it be apparent - such as when you are playing DAoC.
I can tell you that our servers and network components are well above the specs that Mythic recommend to operate the game and our network techs are extremely professional and very highly qualified. Whenever I get significant reports of lag problems I wander down to their office and they always double-check for me.

When there is a problem with our network we say so. There have been a couple of incidents (one just after 1.71 release for example) where something failed in our network and needed to be replaced. When that happened we made a news post to let our players know and credited you all with free time. Some things we are responsible for and can fix and so we do. Other things - like misbehaving routers in Amsterdam or Birmingham (the cause of other recent problems) - we can't realistically do anything about.

Ive just came back yesterday from spending every day in WoW since retail release.

The wow servers go down for maintinence, subs pages go down and other weird shit, but never, I repeat never did I get the type "freezing" lag I got within an hour of paying my subs again.

put what ever spin on it you like - its daoc related :)

Guess you haven't read the 8 million lag related whine threads on the official WoW forums (this is just the European ones). Personally I've experienced as bad a 2 minutes lag between click on an item in the mailbox and actually getting it popped in my inventory. I've had moments (though thankfully it's much rarer nowadays) of it taking up to 30 seconds to fire off an insta spell. Guild chat etc has always worked fine though which = server lag. Oh noes!

Yup, the grass is always greener on the other side ;)

Getting some lag. Looks like it's time to dust off pingplotter, cos it was certainly network lag, not server lag. The worst spike nearly killed off my connection, killed my wife's connection, and my father in law's connection. The first two are on the same LAN. The last is about 40 miles away, with a different provider.

My bet is on Open Transit London again, it usually is.

If you count having lag in Ogrimmar/Ironforge with 2000 people in the same zone, granted you will get lag. Im not talking of the obvious types of lag, like that caused by a crowed zone, im talking about the "spikes" that seem to only occur in DaoC - it dont happen in WoW, it dont happen in SWG, it dont happen in UO, but oh yes, it happens in daoc !

requiel is speaking truthfully im sure - but we consumers are just left in this "void" with every party passing the buck - and we end up none the wiser to what the problem is.
