Personally i think the PvP system is really good, with some errors like the tef system wich can be 'abused' but how is everyone thinking about it ?

i like the fact u can take over bases and such just there are not alot of guilds 'raiding' i think, i hope SOE will focus more on the PvP upcoming patches.

PvP should get better with the new combat changes they are slowly adding, at the moment its ruined by the stacked defences templates, decay on death and group Tef abuse.

And its not that there are not alot of guilds raiding PC bases, its the fact that the turrets can be exploited and killed from over 70m away (out of the turrets range), and even a a group is lucky/ sneaky enough to get to a PC base during the 2 hours that it can be destroyed... all it takes is 1 covert faction member to reset the base and all that work is for nothing :/

I hope it takes off more. When first hearing about SWG and its combat method I thought it wouldn't work for PvP (I've always played FPS's). But after playing for a month now it seems OK. We (Reb's) have seen Imps in the planets capital city and I've witnesses a battle, also had some Imps raid our city last night which was kinda fun.

Maybe its because people are not really into the game enough yet. They were way advanced of me, but some of my guild were the same level. I died quickly and a lot, meaning that there wasn't particularly a lot of fun for me.

But our gild is only just talking about going out raiding other bases, and, as you'd expect with Master Artisan's, Master Dancer's etc, some people are reluctant to go raiding if they see nothing in it for them.

I hope it improves, but as many people are playing their own game MA's, MD's, soloing etc, I'm not so sure.

Maybe a helpful push by the dev's (and yes the Imp crackdown on a heavy Imp server like Chim isn't the best idea), would help.

personally i think its sucky its just a button bash fest theres very little skill needed on the part of the person controlling the char

tkm knockdown, dizzy, spinkick to death
creature handler send in pet run away go make a cuppa
ranged weapon users queue up 20 body shots etc

its boring theres no random encounters
daoc pvp is so superior run around always killable by other realms in specialised areas
in other areas you are safe regardless imo they should have specified areas for pvp like hte battlegrounds are but make the rewards for killing a rebel player much more profitable 30 fp for a kill is stupid when i can go get a lvl 10 mission and get close to triple that

i do love how you can make some fantastic grp setups up with just about every proffesion and that you can kill enemy HQ's is a great touch
but i feel we need more structured PVP atm i think its a mess for more pvp to happen we need to be herded in to certain areas the game is far too large for random encounters for decent grp battles only way you get these grp battles is to attack a city.

Well a daoc PvP event is group get ready and run out the frontier or port to one u know is busy, i was on a base raid in SWG and it was basiclly 2 evenings work one to take out the turrets and the other to attack the base when u know u can take it over, both evenings we had camps with entertainers and everything seemed to be planned well, but its no instant action  it takes alot of waiting and patience :)

Hope the battlegrounds will come back improved :D

This would only works VS an idiot. Anyone with warning shot can send a pet running in the opposite direction... and since the CH nerf, most pets can be incapped pretty fast.

No point using a rancor in PVP as they are far to slow compared to the wild rancors. Most people can outrun them, or get them hungup on a wall, house, tree or rock.

A gurreck goes totally nuts with warning shot, and will most likely run about for a bit then stay totally still until you run within 80M of it spammin /tellpet KILL

The only pet worth fighting with would be the gaping spider hunters ( if the “stay at range” command worked :/ ) The DoT disease along with ar1 and high resists to commando / BH weapons is a killer!

it was comedy watchin groups scatter when i would send in the 3 baby hunters... they didnt last long but they would all get someone infected :)

pig it was merely a loose portrayal of the class i ment to emphasize the fact that if you have no melee or weapon skills with CH you take a back seat to the action
i did have master creature handler and got utterly bored of it my pets got incapped too quick and i wasted shitloads of stim C's on them and that was before the nerf

frankly ppl who use things like rancors and grauls in pvp are idiots there too big a target and easily locked onto by many ppl sure they have alot of HAM and can hit for a brickload but if theres 10 or so ppl shooting it its going down in seconds cant beat a small pet its hard to target and if its got a disease or DOT then its a bonus

sry chipper, get tired of CH bashing

I used to get all sorts of abuse from imperials in PVP cause i used a pet :/
no skill needed to type kill etc bla bla bla, all becuase they got db'd by a wookiee and his spiders...

this is after they have sat at 64m from the recruiter in anchorhead with a full set of sliced comp armour spamming eye shot over an over at the tef'd noobies :/

Battle fields should give PvP a new life, and this Imperial Crackdown thing may make PC city's a bit more interesting!

well ive said it before and ill keep sayin it till they do it all starter cities should have safe zones ie cantina med centre areas around a shuttleport if u get a tef you dont get access etc sick of rebels and im sure the same is true from the rebel point of view of imperials coming into anchorhead/bestine and killing ppl who obviously are not fighting chars ie doctors and dancers its lame and utterly pointless

tbh when you join a faction it warns you about being open to attack...

they wont make safe zones, if a doc or dancer doesnt want to be killed in PVP then they should be neutral.
This imperial crackdown gonna hurt alot of people on eclipse, a large proportion of rebels are only rebel because everyone else is! Once they find that they cant walk about without getting a dropship full of stormys landing on them they will go neutral!

personally... im gonna be sitting on my balcony with a crate of jawa beer and an LLC taking pot shots at probe droids ;)

yeee haww i gots me another one pa!

well i think its alot of how u are, u dont attack people who are sitting in a hospital getting patched up or in a cantina getting their minds healed, but an entertainer being overt .. or a doc getting a TEF for healing someone thats the risk and what makes it interesting ;)

I hope SOE make some major changes in the PvP side because as it stands it is a pile of dross. Amazing fun game in many apsects but PvP sucks and ive tried it from ranged, melee and a support point of view.

my opionon only of course.

To be honest - SW:G PvP beats DAoC PvP hands down.

Simply because you don't need a fotm character/Deep Blue calculated uber template to have some fun. Even casual players stand a chance against no-life 24/7 geeks.

I used to be Carbineer/CH and had a good time taking on BH's even (wearing a helmet, though... eyeshot etc.). Legshot 3 for teh win.
Alot of people think that you need a Master BH/Fencer template to be good in PvP now (see Granny's PvP template thread) but I honestly think hybrids still stand a chance.

I used to stalk covert Rebs on Corellia, going for Reb missions (TEF as soon as they attacked their Imp NPC's) ... nearly always a one on one fight. And good fights with some nice small talk after I db'ed my victim.:D

DAoC would be - run to MG/get owned by random fotm character/stealther or a full group. If you aren't lvl 50, you shouldn't even try.
Bleh... you can't really compare both games, especially because DAoC is just utter shit compared to SW:G.

SW:G PvP should be a bit more rewarding, though. More special items should be available as rewards, some kind of kill counter that is displayed with your bio if you are overt, maybe some sort of special xp that lets you get some kind of special abilities etc.

My two cents.;)

i agree u can have some fun fights but it lacks the massive fights u have in daoc when your char can show it value, it seems u make your char in swg to have fun but not like in daoc where u have a battle ground in mind when creating yours and thinking that be good against such and so ( do still make any sence ? ;) )
