Pulling my hair out...fps?

Alright guys I got a ? for ya. Anyone here using XP... I've been having problems with CS lately. It loads and plays fine and all...but the frame rate simply sucks. I'm getting between 20-60 depending on what's going on. This is at 1024 w/ 32bit color. Under 98SE I never left the max 99frames except if there were like a million sprites on the screan...and even then it was usually fine. My card is a Leadtek GeForce2 GTS/Pro clocked (210/400). I have the 23.11 drivers and the .37a via's. I've heard this is an issue with the Vgart or whatever in the VIA drivers...does anyone know. I remember hearing of a fix somewhere but I can't seem to find it. It's pissing me the heck off.

You can get the latest leaked drivers (27.42) from http://www.geforcezone.com/drivers.htm that seem to work better than 23.11.

or you can try switching to OpenGL mode from D3d or vice versa.

OpenGL is definatly the way to go.

Also, try taking it from 32bit colour.
I have heard reports that this can reduce the framerate significantly and as Half-Life and any MOD's dont require anything higher than 16bit colour then there is no need to run it any higher.
