Ok.. my spare pc worked fine (saying that, every time ive bought something new for it, something else goes wrong).
I shut it down, started installing a new mobo, all went fine.
I then turned it on, nothing. Messed about with the front panel connecters, tried again, nothing.

I then unpluged the power cable and put it back in the psu, usualy theres a sound of static, but that wasnt there. I went and got my 110w psu, I knew it would be too low to run my system, but that gave static.

Imo the psu is dead, what do you guys think? :(

Possible, or your mobo's fried.

New psu's aren't much, think it's about £20 for a 400w nowadays.

Ok, should I try it with the old motherboard just to make sure?

Buy a new psu from somewhere where you can take it back...try out the new psu & if it doesnt fix the problem, return it.

Tbh, the static conclusion is a little weak...firstly, if its what I think it is, that noise isnt static. Second, you could take that shit lil psu and just plug in the mobo/gfx/monitor/mouse and keybs without any drives or other stuff and see if you get any sort of post. If so, its probably the other psu.

The psu worked before...much more likely to be some other installation problem.

It could be a short to your case. A severe ram issue can cause total apparent (redemable) death. Bad wiring or jumpers...other possibilities.

Well I dunno if its static, but the noise it makes when you plug the cable into the cpu, like a little crackle of electric or something..

Ok. the psu is not dead and works fine with the old motherboard.
Every other mobo ive had, i've just put straight in, connected power switch up, cpu fan and the big power thingie. What else could be the problem on this new mobo? I think it would be quite unlikely that the mobo is dead as itsbrand new :(
