PS3 & NAS drives

Anyone know if a PS3 can play media from a NAS drive (a buffalo linkstation in this case) ?

It can if you have a UPNP service on your NAS then your PS3 will see it as a media server. I think even if its not standard you will be able to add some sort of UPNP server to your NAS.

Did you have to install anything extra or enable anything in the NASexplorer doohickey?

No sir.

Install the NAS software so it maps the drive (you do that anyway) and then search for media servers on the PS3 and it will find the Linkstation. The PS3 likes DLNA things and Linkstation has DLNA. Don't worry about anything, its pretty much plug and play and works sexually.

Besides installing *anything* onto the Linkstation is more hurtful than AIDS of the bell end but the main thing that pisses me off with that is my Squeezebox won't pick up my LS because it hasn't got the Squeeze centre software on it, it can be installed but fuck me I aren't going to try.

Its awesome with the LS chum, don't worry and if you have any problems just send me a PM but I honestly think you will sort it with your eyes closed, well, you don't have to sort much at all really if you already have the LS installed etc. All you will do is either network the PS3 up via network lead or wirelessly (may I suggest hard wiring it because streaming HD stuff over wifi will make your balls hurt) and like I said go to PS3 and search for media servers and bobs your uncle that touched you in the night.

Turn off firewall?

If your LS is all installed and mapped and set to share the PS3 should pick it up no bother. Is the LS turned on (rather than the wake setting)?

The Buffalo NAS does work like a dream with the PS3 you giant southern nimrod

It just doesn't do the other stuff very good
