If i wasn’t jealous of the yanks before i am now. But seeing as the games are not locked to regiaons at least we might get better games at UK Launch

With the North American launch of Playstation now mere weeks away Sony US has unveiled a line-up of 21 games for the ‘launch window’. Here’s what 500,000 of our lucky US chums will be greedily devouring between mid-November and Xmas 06 – and months before we can even dream of doing. Mutter, curse etc…

• Resistance: Fall of Man
• NBA 07
• Genji: Days of the Blade
• Blazing Angels: Squadrons of WWII
• Call of Duty 3 (Treyarch/Activision)
• EA Sports Fight Night Round 3
• The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion
• F.E.A.R.
• Full Auto 2: Battlelines
• Madden NFL 07
• Marvel: Ultimate Alliance
• Mobile Suit Gundam: Crossfire
• NBA 2K7
• Need For Speed Carbon
• NHL 2K7
• Ridge Racer 7
• Sonic the Hedgehog
• Tiger Woods PGA Tour 07
• Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Vegas
• Tony Hawk's Project 8
• Untold Legends Dark Kingdom

Of course our cousins across the pond will have to fight tooth and claw to obtain one of the half million or so PS3 units designated for the US launch and then pay up to $599 for the privilege of ownership. Even so, we’re positively purple with resentment and, in spite of any sarcasm we might have aimed at the PS3 in past weeks, the above constitutes a totally decent launch roster by any measure. We understand that the 500K launch units will also come bundled with a Blu-Ray copy of Talladega Nights: the Ballad of Ricky Bobby too. Ach, that’s just rubbing our noses in it!

in Other news to come out of the Sony ‘Gamer’s Day’ event, at which all of this was announced, the price for a number of PS3 peripherals was unveiled:

• Wireless Sixaxis controllers will be available separately at $49.99 (£26.50)
• Blu-Ray Remotes will retail for $24.99 (a touch over £13)
• The HDMI cable costs $49.99
• A PS2 memory card adaptor is $14.99 (£8!)
• PS3 game rrp is $59.99 (£32)

Oh yes, and it was confirmed that the 'Playstation Network', Sony’s equivalent to Xbox Live, will allow gamers to play online for free. Have some of that Mr Gates!

Let’s all join hands and pray that all of these games (and more) will be available for our launch, that Sony gives us enough units to go around and that they're nice enough to apply the same pricing structure as detailed above

From what i have read there will be no regions on the games but there will on Blu Ray Films. So that means you could buy the games for £35 from america :)

Would rather they developed some new games instead of re-relasing a game with a big fat 2, 3 or 8 etc. on the end.

I think you will end up with places like PLay USA selling the games and they do free postage. If not my company has an office in the states and we send stuff back a forth 3 or 4 times a week i could try get it stuck tot he top of a pallet for free :(

So the launch titles consist of mostly yearly update sequels. Go Go Sony! I have never been so underwhelmed by a console release as the PS3.

Kinda agree with Bugz, seems a pretty poor selection of release games tbh. Just aload of PC ports or updates of past PS games with jazzed up graphics, nothing that realy shouts "WOW thats new and inotive"!
