I doubt we will see any of the savings passed on to the consumer, Sony need to make up for the loss they made when the manufacture cost was higher than the sale price.

Their entire PS3 business model was based on them selling it off the back of reputation. The problem was/is they got beaten early on by an equally powerful console which is 10x easier to program for and released much earlier. They have virtually no exclusives to temp people to invest, less consumers equals less people buy the console.

I'd also so there are enough on the way out in the next 12 months to save me having to play Gears of Halo 745 or Super Mario Jizz Fest or any of the other gash exclusives on those "other" consoles.

Earlier this year I was going to invest in an xbox 360 or PS3, in the end the xbox was the clear winner because despite Bodhi's crying the exclusives for xbox 360 are just better, and there are a shitload more games to choose from. I often go into the previously owned section of game and pick something up because of the choice there is, and no I haven't played/owned any halo or gears of war game yet. Can you get dlc for ps3 version of fallout 3 yet? one of the best games I've played in years, I believe the new splinter cell game is 360 only (might be wrong) which looks pretty good, just downloaded and played the remade monkey island game which is ace, and is it true final fantasy have abandoned Sony and gone xbox only for the new game?

You're right though, it seems to be widely accepted that the PS3 is a real pain in the ass to develop software on. Regardless of how much you like it, Bods, you have to admit that the PS3 is nowhere near the success it was expected to be and primarily for the reasons Raven listed.

Yes but when one of the competitors releases some shoddy hardware that means you have to buy 4 before you get one that works, you're always going to be behind them in console sales. For some reason buy cheap buy twice seems to ring a bell here. Anyway, the 8 exlcusives I've found are

- the best DAC I've heard outside of my £500 Marantz CD Player.
- Wipeout (naturally)

Got a PS3 meself and do really rather think it's awesome (surprised Valkyria Chronicles hasn't been mentioned yet, excellent game) but I must admit Bodhi I found it a little funny that you essentially take the piss out the Xbox/Wii exclusives as being an endless mass of sequels then point out how great the upcoming PS3 lineup is by mentioning a bunch of sequels

Also the next FF game is not ps3 exclusive at all.

Like I said the one thing that swung it for me when it came to making my choice in March was the number of games available for the 360.

Loyal to the end eh? Sony failed just like Sega did when Sony beat them with the Saturn/Dreamcast, it's pretty ironic that the reason sega failed with their overpriced machines is the reason Sony have failed too.

If they just dropped their machine by £100 sales would increase.

It is when it's gay jazz elevator music vs the prodigy, LCD soundsystem, Paul Oakenfold, N.E.R.D, faithless, orbital, bloc party, chemical brothers, DJ Tiesto etc. It makes a difference because music is a very important part of most games. But mostly its the gay tyre wear that kicks in late on in the game and only effects you and not the computer controlled cars.

I got a PS3 bundled with a 24 months mobile phone contract. Suits me as I wanted a BluRay player. Can't say I find the controller as intuitive as the 360's and the graphics/sound aren't all that much better than the 360, but for free you can't go wrong. Quite taken with BluRay films though !

Sega failed because of the lack of games on the later platforms.

Sony are now failing for the same reason imho. Every time I hear about this awesome new PS3 only game, I play it once and it makes me go "meh".

Playstation brand was built around being cool (MGS, GT, etc) and nowdays that brand is being supported more by foundations made up of fuzzy puppets (Littlebigplanet) and being a freak (Home).

Sony need to get back to the shit that they were good at and stop trying to add Nintendo style shit into their mix.

Oh and bodhi you should know better than to say "Gears of Halo 745" when you're using Wipeout as one of your arguments... wassat now revision 10billion?
