PS 3 Wirelesss connection problem

girl at works got a ps3 and Sky broadband, that uses wpa/psk, but the ps3 doesnt want to connect using that type of security apparently, is that a normal problem for the ps3 ???

I know nothing about ps3's but is it possible she's on WPA2 or WPA+WPA2? I've known devices to have problems with them. Also worth making sure she's not on channel 12 or 13 as that can cause issues too.

Sky just send out netgears anyway, just change the security to WEP and it will work fine with the PS3

(ps. yes i know WEP is shit)

she says her Wii works ok on her current wireless setup, just not the ps3, will et her to change it to WEP.

(Haven't read that link)

I seem to recall that I needed to wire mine up when new via a lan cable to do a firmware/system update which fixed this issue for me...

thanks guys, I'm going round on Saturday to sort it out, i would rather use WPA so a firmware downgrade looks like the answer.

Sound slike a better plan than mine, I'm just lazy when it comes to fixing stuff, even my own stuff lol

I wouldn't fuck about with the firmware on a Sky router, afaik they run there own special brew.

Nah - it was the PS3 firmware needed updating for the wireless security to work properly.
