Proposed Solution to the "Hello" problem.

OK, With a community of this size, and the problems we've been having it's not easy to tell everyone to "stop it" and expect a result - I know many have tried.

If the problem with a Newbie saying hello and getting flamed were to continue though, would it not be a good idea to have a "Hello" forum. Make it big and clear that this is for Newbies to say hello. Those who want to can, and they don't cause anyone any harm in doing so.
Anyone feeling friendly has a choice to go in and say a few "hello"s if they were so inclined.

Is this not a simple way of removing the problem, and leaving the Gen Forum free for proper "general" things.

I think it's fair to say that none of us have a problem with people saying hello (though we'd rather they didn't and just contributed something intersting/amusing). What we get weary of is people saying 'LO0k @ meH n00 websh1t3, j00 p33ps!!11!!1'

We've covered this extensively the last couple of days and I reckon we can already expect an improvement. There's a couple of examples already where attitudes have changed.

He's hit the spot. It would also encourage spamming of that shite 'Wrong Forum!' pic everytime someone did it. It's not like people mind newb's just saying hello anyway (as summo said). We'd rather they didn't, but it's nothing drastic.

Don't need an entire forum for it, just a thread that stays on the front page at the top (heeeey, a sticky!) that people can come in and say "Hi, I'm me. Hi" and we could all jovially reply with "Hi" or somethi... Bollocks to this, I woke up because I really, really need to go for a piss, and my housemate's girlfriend is in the only toilet in the flat, having a bloody shower. It's a leg crossing situation if ever I was in one.
