Moody Blues, Barclay James Harvest, Yes, Deep Purple (before they became a heavy rock band), Pink Floyd (from the Syd Barret days), Emerson Lake and Palmer, King Crimson and Fleetwood Mac. Those are the ones I can think of off the top of my head.

Im not exactly sure what "progressive" rock is, but im guessing it bands like the follow.

The Who, The Kinks, Pink Floyd, Black Sabbath maybe. And the best band ever Led Zeppelin.

Indeed, they're not as bad as some of the music around at the moment though. (Look at the time from Genesis to now =D)
