Probs with UT

ok guys me mate has been having real problems playing UT for about a month now , he keeps on getting cut off from games online and his puter keeps on locking up.

anyone have any ideas to what could cos this?

he has formatted his puter and re-installed everything and it keeps on doing the same.

he has 800mhz athlon 300watt powers supply, 5 5000 vodoo graphis card.
he has win me and win 98se.

Hmm. The V5, does it have the external power supply?
Else it might be his mobo having probs getting the power to the components.
Best way to check it would be to use a different vid card and c if the whole thing keeps on locking up...
Can you send the specifics about his system? Does it have special controllers (SCSI etc.)? Stuff like that.

Shouldn't need external power. I thought only V5-6000 (rip) needed that. But u r right, u need a good power supply in your case these days. Especially for V5. 250 Watt should be OK but 300 is safest nowadays

Yeah I thought so Wij. The V5 doesn't have external power supply, but eats them watts like mad. Seems to me a power supply with too little juice...

250W is definetly not enough. It depends on how many other cards you have in the slots.

What you can try is run your machine without the case for better air cooling. Additionally try to run 3DMark2000 or another test software for about 24hours. This is a good test to check out if your system is stable or not.
