Right,
I've got myself a wireless ADSL router and a Netgear WG311 v2 (PCI) wireless card (actually, I've got 2) to go with it.
I've set up the router OK (this post is going through it on my laptop which has a builtin wireless LAN card), however the wireless LAN card just won't install on the main PC. I've tried Netgear's webby, however nothing like this comes up. I've even tried their supposed 24x7 phone support, however keep getting cut off after going through several hundred options with "current queues are too long...".
The instructions say:-
1. Install driver first which I've done.
2. Power down and plug in card into spare PCI slot which I've done.
3. Power back on and logon and finish the install.
The windoze hardware detection wizard picks up the new card and tries to install.
It fails though with:-
"Windows is unable to install this hardware - There was a problem installing this hardware - Invalid data"
Now I've re-tried the whole proceedure several times over, changing the PCI position etc... to no avail. Even tried the other card and other installation CDROM...
Some more specs :-
motherboard - abit kr7a raid
cpu - Athlon XP 1800+
memory - 512 Mb DDR
Graphics - Geforce 3 TI300
Sound - Creative Audigy
Anyone else seen anything like this or have any useful suggestions (other than a re-format...)?
I've used a lot of netgear stuff in the past, and have never had any problem with it - until now...
regards,
SB
