Problems With Hl 1108?!??!?!?!?

gosh.........ive had this problem for awhile now and no one seems to know anything......well here it is....

ok i downloaded 1.3 retail no problem, so then i download HL1108 and it downloads but when i go to install it, it has C:\Sierra\Counter-Strike\FAIL already so i try it and it say you are trying to install it to the wrong inventroy, so then i take off the FAIL part( which i have no ideal why its there) and then it says "you are attemping to install a half-life update that is the incorrect version.

you are currently running the (its has a blank spot??) version of half-life. this update is for the english version of halflife.

??????????????????????????????????????????thats all i can say so if someone could help me it would be great.

By the sound of that you have the retail version, you dont need to install HL1108.

well i tried to go in to play cs, and i start connecting to the sever and it logs out and say "your Counter-Strike executable is out of date. Counter-Strike will now update to the current version. so i press ok and its say check internet for updates .....ok

then its starts checking and it says this version of Counter-Strike is up to date.

Hmmmmm, you may have the same problem i had, go to the main menu and check the number in the corner of the display, it should say 1.0.0.3.

hMMM, try cancelling the "CS exe out of date" message and see if you can connect to a server...

by the time that message comes up its already at the select sever screen. so it wont do nothing.

Hmmm, try using gamespy or somin, that'll usually skip that nonsence, my personal fave proggie is EYE, or if that sounds like too much work, try connecting to a couple of servers via the console, the command is CONNECT <SERVER IP>

DAn2k that was extremely unhelpful, try reading the mans post.

OKay what you do is, uninstall CS, delete the remaining directories after wards and reinstall. Patch it up to the latest version.

See if that works, when u installed hl1108 it would have buggered up your install afaik.

Yes just use pacth CS up to 1003, you dont have HL, so you only need teh retail cs fixes.

You will also need the map fix from cs.net or bw. This wil give u the missing sprites for the map survivor and teh correct version of inferno.
