Problems [ESC]caping from CS to menus

When I want to change severs and use [ESC] to go back from the current CS game to the server list the menu page is messed up. The only bit of the page I want is displayed in the top left hand corner of the screen, I can only select resume as the rest of the page is hidden. This seems to be some kind of conflict between the my system resolution and the resolution of the CS/HL menu pages. It is also related to updating my NVidia drivers.

You could learn to connect from the console...

Seriously, mine does something similar on an ATi card, and my resolution for HL and my system in general is the same. It's just one of those things I guess - if anyone can prove my an idiot, I'll be glad to know.

why dont you use gamespy? i never heard of ppl using the in game browser before....

I don't use it due to the type of router I use - it causes all sorts of interesting system freezes.

i have an ati card and it never affected it before, but when i chose a 2nd server the whole screen magnifies and then the top half fuzzes out. then i cant connect im SOOOO a newbie and confused. plz any help would be great! - swami

the ingame browser is crap, and gamespy is just as bad.

all seeing eye is the best out there
it scans servers and pings them super fast. on my 56k, a full scan with gamespy would take 30mins, and that was when there were only around 7000 servers. now there are twice as many, and all seeing eye takes less than 10 mins

it also has mod filters built in, and you can filter using geographical liocation and maps ect..


to connect through the console use:
connect xxx.xx.xx.x:xxxxx
and to disconnect from a server first:
disconnect

Well guys (and gals?) my problem is cured.....and I have no idea at all why! Last night when I played everything was OK again. I hate these machines, theyre just like women, impossible to understand, temperamental, expect all your time and spend all your money.

Gamespy 3d is better for HL as it has support for master servers..and tbh EYE is not very good

but yes, gamespy is crap. the server updates take forever, switching between games on the server list takes several seconds, and its generall poo.

eye is alot faster, alot more userfriendly, has no ads, is updated regurly, and is generally win.

lol its not my fault your PC shite...several seconds? And the only reason EYE doesnt take so long is that you can select 'Europe'. Master server support is very handy and you have seemed to overlook that

it takes too long
the filters are shit
its too big and buggy
ase is constantly being updated
the last update added a messaging system
i like the fact u can easily select the country you want to play on
i only want to play on uk servers because i'm still on 56k modem
anyway before u slam it let people make up thier own minds

I have to say I'm a total ASE convert. At first I missed the ability to add master servers, but once I'd figured out how to create custom filters in ASE I aint never going back to Gamespy.

Eg this is the filter I use to refresh only UK CS servers:

1 if country == "UK" goto 3
2 remove
3 if gamedir != "cstrike" remove

It's that easy.

and seeing that above filter to me is useless seeing as I also want to play on NGI...sorry Im sticking to Gamespy..I have no problems with it whatsoever
