I had a problem with my PC that involved me reformatting it. With it I lost the AOL dial software (que Flaming :D) With it I have also changed my wireless modem router to the Buffalo Air Station.

My home network consits of a Apple Mac iBook G4 (connected via airport) PC for gaming (Ethernet),

My problem is I can't get my pc to connect to the Internet nor can I get it to connect th the Buffalo router via http://192.168.11.1 as per the instructions. I have been able to install the AOL software including dialler. When I try and connect it says it cannot detect a modem or router

I tried to do a seperate connection through adding a connection via my network places. The thing was it was ok yesterday before formatting

Any suggestions ?

Hmm, so what was your router configuration before?
Not sure how the AOL dialing software would work, does the MAC connect to the net fine?

It's probably a network settings issue (or a network card driver issue (more likely)
Click start - run
devmgmt.msc
enter
check for anything with a questionmark or unknown devices
If anything isn't there it will need installing.

click start - run
cmd
type ipconfig /all
there should be details fot the ethernet adaptor
THe things to note, is it enabled for dhcp
what is the ip address showing
what is the default gateway showing
also does it have two dns servers

to work the ip address should be in the format 192.168.11.x
and the default gateway should be the address of the router (in this case 192.168.11.1)
dns should be whatever your ISP gives.

there may be an issue with the aol software, but i don't have a clue how this works!

My dad uses AOL and I recently installed a wireless router at his place. ot sure about the specifics of the Buffalo kit but with regards to AOL the option he has seleted is something like "Broadband (DSL/cable/LAN)" and as long as his PC's connected to the router and the router's connected to the internet it finds a TCP/IP connection and uses that.
