Printer for small stuff - not a small printer!

I need help

I need to get a printer to be able to print on pieces of paper / card that measure 4.1x8.2cm. I've tried bunging them in a few different models but the spaces between the rollers makes everything wonky or it just doesn't pick it up.

All the printers for this size I can find on google are thermal based and not suitable for the task.

Any ideas or suggestions for something that would be up to the task will be met with much thanks.

oh, they use thermal inkjets for the most part I guess that's no good?

I have a normal Canon inkjet at home and I think it can handle small sizes without problems, but I'll double-check this weekend for you.

Out of interest, how thick is the paper/card (in terms of gsm) and what are you printing (text, photos etc.)? You may have less trouble with thicker material, and I guess you already thought of the obvious, i.e. using larger sheets and cutting them down afterwards?

Edit ~ Sorry, it's early here, I just re-read and noticed the thermal inkjet part. I guess that requirement is to do with the material you're using? Perhaps you can consider using a copy shop, they will be able to handle all kinds of specialist requirements, and you'll be able to know the price before going ahead.

Cheers guys, by thermal I meant using heat onto thermal paper. Sorry wasn't clear on that. Inkjet stuff should be fine.

It's for price tags in my shop. Previously I have (mad) spray glued a corner of them individually onto a4 which then goes through the printer fine. Have given up on that plan . I have about 500 I need to do. It really is a result of my having appaling handwriting.

I'm looking for a long term solution as prices seem to be changing a lot these days. It would just be black text.

I'll go and have a poke at a small photo machine at the weekend.

Maybe a silly question, but can't you just print multiple ones to something like an A4 piece of paper/card and cut them to the appropriate size ?

You get all kinds of different label or business card paper and software for such things, avery probably being the standard for that kind of thing.

Yeah, I've looked at that but they don't come out smart enough for my liking. Will do some more research.
